The PS3's hard drive is used for many things.
For games, the PS3 stores you saved game data, as well as caches data from the game discs to help with load times.
You can also download additional content, like extra levels or maps, for some games and store them on the hard drive.
Using Sony's Playstation Network, you can download movies, trailers, games and demos - all of which is stored on the hard drive.
The PS3 is also a media center, able to store and play your music and video files.

No clue. Sony has gone bonkers in terms of its several variations of the ps3.
I personally would have preferred the 60gb version considering its priced 100 dollars less.

Would you rather buy 20 memory cards or store it in a big hard drive that you can upgrade it to 100 GB?
