I HAVE BEEN TOSSING AROUND THE IDEA ABOUT GETTING A TATTOO FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS NOW. THE THINGS THAT STOPS ME FROM DOING IT IS THAT I DON'T REALLY LIKE NEEDLES AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO HIDE IT WHEN NECESSARY. I AM NOT SURE WHERE TO PUT IT BUT I LIKE THE LOWER BACK AND THE TOP/SIDE OF THE FOOT. I KNOW THAT IT IS GOING TO HURT NO MATTER WHAT BUT IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME SOME ADVICE ON WHICH WOULD HURT THE LEAST I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS GUYS!!!
oh and if anyone knows of any websites that have pictures of some neat celtic knot designs that would be great

The top of the foot would hurt a bit more than the lower back. Additionally, if you're not wanting to let it be seen...so much for sandles!

Just my humble opinion here....but I think a lower back tattoo looks so MUCH sexier on a woman the the top of the foot!

Best wishes and the link below has some celtic knot photo's!

Unless you're a chick, lower back tattoos are a HUGE no no. And pretty played out even if you are. With that said, the notes on the foot sound good. I have both the tops of my feet tattooed with script writing. It didnt hurt at all really, but that has a lot to do with your tattoo artists technique and equipment. If the tattoo covers the majority of your foot, you will have swelling. Its best to give yourself an extra day of keeping it elevated and iced if needed. As far as the lyrics, maybe think of a better spot.... possibly down your ribs? Fancy vertical script looks quite sexy there.

My wife and both of my daughters have lower back tattoos. They are all professional working mothers. Both husbands and children like them. So, don,t worry what others say about them they are exotic and hot.

To greatly reduce the pain of tattooing, go to the drug store and get an ointment that is used for arthritis. the brand name is Zostrex, the store brand is just as good. This has as an active ingredient the extract from red pepper. it is absorbed thru the skin and numbs the pain receptors. It is a temporary effect. careful when you apply it to the area to be tattooed, too much and it burns, use a small amount, rubbed in well every 3rd day for 2 weeks. wash your hands well after use and keep away from your eyes. When you get the tattoo it will be with minimal discomfort. I have 7 tattoos, the first 2 without this medication and all the rest with it. trust me the last 5 were a breeze.

The lower back will hurt less than the top of your foot, because the top of the foot is skin and bone! However, I wouldnt base getting my tattoo on where it will hurt less because its permanent and you'll want to be happy with the choice you made!

Funny, it's been a topic of conversation a lot lately. Several guys I spoke to think that the lower back kind of gives a negative image to a girl. I personally don't think so, but what do I know. They said that it shows more of a wild/easy girl image whereas on the side of the foot is considered "less skanky". I think it's called a tramp stamp or crack hat when it's on the back, haha! I think on the side of the foot is pretty sexy and a bit more sophisticated than the back.

i have on the top of my foot. the skin is very thin there, so it is a painful place to have a tattoo. i think the back would be a better option for you- less pain and also you won't have to see the needle.

google tattoo pics
why not get it on both places i think the foot one is sexy and also the lower back (i have it) so just look for some desings you like and when you pick one if its small put it on your foot ifits big put it on the lower back.
so depending on what tatoo you want get it in that area wher it will look the best

Your feet show a lot more then your back, when you're all dressed up for an event you can cover your back, not your feet

You've got to remember that the lower back will wrinkle first, and over the years as the ink absorbs into your skin this will become very ugly. Why would you want to mark yourself for life? I did it, and believe me, their is not a day that goes by that I don't regret it. Just think, someday your grandaughter may see it and say "What is that wrinkley/green thing on your back Grandma?"

i have a tattoo on both of those places. i have a pretty high tolerance f/ pain and the one on my back stung but i wouldnt say it hurt. the one on top of your foot it pretty painful though, def. more than your back. i love it though, totally worth it. plus, the pain is kinda part of the point, isnt it?
