God is still performing miracles every day!!! Just through His people now, like He did through Jesus. We just need to step back, slow down , a recognize them...

Actually, miracles were rare even in "biblical" times. Miracles were apparently used by God to signal that he was about to say something new, in order to verify that the message really was from him.
Since the bible seems to be finished, for now, there is no more need for miracles.

Back then, our nature was not well understood, and religions was helping to explain and understand it! It is why, when things good where happening, they were convinced it was the work of god, instead of the action of a natural cycle, before they could not even figure out other reasons...
Now knowledge is abound, and we can figure up much more things, that can`t be related to religion anymore. Science is a pretty young field (about 400 years MAX), so before that, explaination were in the hands of the few!

Even cow dung was magic to people back then. Whatever they could not grasp, they called "magic". It still exists today, only we call it "spiritual".
