I think world war 3 was started 30 odd years ago. The nuclear arms race between America and Russia set us all on the road to nowhere.
They told all the powerful states in the world what there intentions where, and the other world leaders had to make plans to react, now we are all on a knife edge. Waiting to see witch country will procure that key piece of technology to win that war.
I don't think the middle east is a major threat.
North Korea and Russia are a different matter, particularly Russia. Putin is a physco, who is looking for a reason! And he controlls 1 third of the worlds gas supply.
You work it out!

I fear we may be dragged into another world war over the Israel Palestine question. It is already the cause of the attack on Iraq, the same Neo Cons are threatening Iran and I strongly suspect the new USA Eastern European missile shield is part of a strategy to defend Israel.Take a look and see how close it will be to Iran and the Middle East

An extremist organization with a bomb doing untold destruction.

Look, do you want to have untold bloodshed? Here is what you do (this is only for the sake of discussion, OK?)

And extremist group gets a US-made missile and blows up the Black Rock of Kaaba, a most holy and sacred object for Islam.

The amount of outrage generated from such an act of religious impunity would cause a holy war of untold force.

[Please keep in mind that I am NOT advocating such violence and outrage, but with religious zealotry at an all-time fervor, this would be a "final straw" action]

Many people think a new world war will be the end result from the current upheavals in the Middle East. But this is in fact a simple, though effective, smoke screen.

Most people fail to realise that, despite what you may have been led to believe by the James Bond movie franchise, Blofeld is alive and well, as is Sir Gustav Graves, both of whom now lead a revamped and re-energised SPECTRE organisation.

It is SPECTRE which our governments must now concentrate their energies on, before it is too late.

All the crap that is going on in the middle east will eventually boil over. It's basically a capped off melting pot ready to explode. Not even mentioning Iraq, we have Israel and the Palestinians doing what's they've been doing for a couple thousand years, we have the escalating Iran problem, China and North Korea are always talking trash... It won't be pretty. And no, I don't think it'll be Bush's fault.

Most likely Iran... I don't know that it will be a "world war" at least not in the sense that WWII was a world war...

Actually I think we are in a world war right now; after all we are fighting against international (i.e. world-wide) terrorism, it is a different sort of world war but a world war none-the-less...
That's what people, I think, don't seem to realize; that we are in a fight for our survival... it doesn't seem that way because the threat is often hidden and obscure... but, make no mistake, success for our enemy means annihilation of everything we know and love, they want us all (everyone who is not a Muslim extremist that is) dead, not conquered but dead... and you thought the Jewish Holocaust was bad...
