Man compared to animals wouldn't man be more than one having also an eternal spirit. Isn't this what God conveyed through Moses when he said Let US create man In OUR image?
Man was created from the dust (flesh) then God breathed in life(spirit) and man became a living soul...Isn't God demonstrating in man his image which is Father, Son and Holy Spirit?

Ismail, Your idea that man is like God in any way other than the eternal spirit blasphemes a perfect and righteous God. We are all sinners and God is perfect. All flesh does die..It is sin that brings death to flesh...this also shows the need for Jesus. If sin equals death then salvaton is through God's merciful and righteous paying of the penalty of death. anything less and God is not a righteous God but a god that overlooks and agrees with sin. Or all men perish in their sins.

Tony, Interesting that you are not a Christian and yet have a decent concept of trinity...seems you believe in the deity of Christ and yet do not consider yourself Christian?

Teem let's go to the scriptures. I strongly think you have misinterpreted Eccesastes...
3:19 explains all men return to dust..as in a man's flesh surely you believe that man is eternal.
Ecc.3:18 I said in mine heart concerning the aestate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are bbeasts.
19 For that which abefalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the adust, and all turn to dust again.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

Teem note that 20 refers to amn's spirit as going upward or downward...not the beast...This scripture agrees with Genesis two that man is more than an animal in that he is more than mere falesh as the beast are.

Teem the Bible often refers to a man as a living soul, not to be confused with his soul or having a soul..but at times the Bible is refering to man as a soul. When the Bible refers to spirit of an animal it is simply the life of the animal which as we see in this verse returns to the dust with the flesh of the animal.

Teem, God breathed life into a man and yes this is the spirit. Breath itself is not your spirit and the spirit does not die with the flesh unless you are an animal.
If you believe that you die as an animal then you are not an eternal creature.
Your argument is not with me but God and Moses as they do show the image of God is that man is more than simply flesh and spirit is eternal. Eclesiastes is refering to a mans flesh even so it does not mean that man is only flesh nor does it say animals have an eternal spirit. The spirit that is in a man is eternal
If it is not then you will perish with your flesh.

Yes. Indeed. St. Augustine makes the same (or, a very similar) observation in his classic "De Trinitatis".

No, Man's spirit and animal's spirit are the same.
Eccl 3:19 For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast,
It is not the spirit that makes the image of God.
Spirit at Gen 2:7 to blow into his nostrils the breath of life,
literally means breath.
Soul at Gen 2:7 literally means breather.
Man and animals breath and can be called breathers.
What separates us from the animals is not our souls or spirit, but our ability to worship, to love, to learn and have wisdom, to exercise authority over God's creation.
By having a God like personnality we show we are in God's image.
The Pharisees imitated Satan, and were in Satan's image.
Please note these verses concerning man, and animals:
To aid in understanding the uses of “soul,” we have grouped below, under various headings, texts where “soul” occurs.

Let’s see who is misinterpreting: (Capitals to distinguish scripture from comment)
18 I said to myself concerning the sons of men, "God has surely tested them in order for them to see that they are but beasts."
(THE STATE OF MAN IS COMPARED TO BEASTS.)
19 For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same.
(PLEASE NOTE IT DOESN'T SAY THEY ARE SIMILAR, BUT SAYS, THEIR FATE IS THE SAME)
As one dies so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath
(PLEASE NOTE THEY BOTH DIE, THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME BREATH / SPIRIT)
and there is no advantage for man over beast, for all is vanity.
(PLEASE NOTE IN DEATH MAN HAS NO ADVANTAGE OVER THE BEAST)
20 All go to the same place.
(PLEASE NOTE IN DEATH MAN AND ANIMALS GO TO THE SAME PLACE)
All came from the dust and all return to the dust.
21Who knows that the breath of man ascends upward and the breath of the beast descends downward to the earth?
(PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A QUESTION AND NOT A STATEMENT. WHO KNOWS?
ALSO IT IS MAN’S BREATH HIS SPIRIT WHICH IS THE SAME AS THE ANIMALS)
PLEASE COMPARE
PS 104: 29 You hide Your face, they are dismayed;
You take away their spirit, they expire
And return to their dust.
Footnote to spirit: breath
PS. 146: 4 His spirit departs, he returns to the earth;
In that very day his thoughts perish.
Footnote to spirit: breath
Eccl 12: 7 then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.
Footnote to spirit: breath
THE SPIRIT THAT RETURNS TO GOD AT DEATH IS THE BREATH OF LIFE.
GEN 2:7 STATES THAT MAN BECAME A LIVING SOUL. NOT THAT HE WAS GIVEN ONE.
SATAN PROMISED ETERNAL LIFE FOR DISOBEIDENCE,
(GEN 3: 4The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die!)
JESUS OFFERS ETERNAL LIFE AS A REWARD.
JOHN 3: 16"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
THE HOPE THAT MAN HAS FOR LIVING AGAIN AFTER DEATH IS THE RESURRECTION.
JESUS AND PAUL LIKENS DEATH TO SLEEP. JOHN 3:16 STATES IF WE DON’T HAVE FAITH WE PERISH.
EZ 18: 4"Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine The soul who sins will die.
(PLEASE NOTE: IT DOESN’T SAY THE SOUL WILL SEPARATE FROM THE BODY AND LIVES SOMEWHERE ELSE.)
I just noticed in your question you have spirit in the wrong place
spirit follows breathed (spirit - nshmth) in life (chiim)

Well I'm not Christian or of any set religion..and never read the entire Bible, but I'll tell you what IBelieve in a simple way.
Holy Trinity = Holy Father, Holy Ghost, Holy Son
Holy Father = Mental (since most Father's give Fatherly Advice)
Holy Ghost = Spirit(ual) (the Spiritual Force - Love)
Holy Son = Physical (Physical God on Earth)
Man's Trinity = Mental (mind)+ Physical (body/flesh)+ Spiritual (soul)
Thus yes...man ...Does ..reflect the image of the trinity....
according to the way I think.

Actually, the Trinity is the triune representation of the Godhead and is not congruent with the flawed personage man represents.
When God said let us create man in our own image he referred to the Elohim, or heavenly host and it was a reference to God and the angels -- and I believe a physical and emotional manifestation.
Inasmuch as all of this transpired prior to the committal of 'original sin' in the garden of Eden -- I say a qualified "yes" -- when it all started out EXCEPT for the fact that man is a single entity with both flesh and spiritual bodies whereas the Godhead consists of three things which exist as one:
The Father
The Son
The Holy Spirit
1x1x1=1; not 1+1+1=3

Yes! Great question!
That is why, inside of us, we all have the desire to have a Father. We are not made to be alone, isolated entities. We are made to be enlivened by the breath of the Spirit, to be constantly interacting with the Father, and we as the son. We have to have some triune aspects, just as God does. But we don't want to go too far with that - because it could become heretical. God is separate from man. However, on a basic level, our desire to be in relationship comes from the fact that God is essentially a Relationship - a constantly flowing communion between Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the relationship between the Father and the Son).

Maybe, if that were true. See, no one created us in their image. Over the course of hundreds of millions of years, through very gradual change, humans evolved to their present state.
Humans aren't just -like- animals, we literally ARE animals.
If you want to have your eyes opened, watch this documentary, called The Blind Watchmaker. It explains how science has proved, without a shadow of a doubt, that humans were not designed: we evolved.

It's based on a book of the same title, and it is one of the best, most powerful and most compelling books I have ever read. You'll be a better and happier person, and you'll also understand a lot more about the world, once you understand natural selection.

Quite so--man is a spirit who has a soul & lives in a body. I've heard the soul explained as 'mind(intellect), will & emotions'. With that in mind, there is the Holy Spirit, God the Father & Jesus. Perfect illustration of God & man as triune beings.

First of all, if you think Moses wrote Genesis, you're already off your rocker. Secondly, the phrase "Let US create man in OUR image" reflects an ambiguity in the Hebrew due to the use of the word "Elohim," which is a masculine plural of a feminine singular noun - one of the so-called "titles" of "God" which is derived from the earlier Canaanite father-god El, and refers to the pantheon associated with him. In other words, it's a case of the Hebrew myth belying one of its sources from which it was plagiarized. It has absolutely nothing to do with the centuries-later Christian concept of the "Trinity," and to claim that it does is the worst kind of disingenuity.

Jesus is in the image of the Father-Jehweh. Jesus is a perfect image of that character of God. Jesus showed us the love and that image in His perfect will! We are to live and try to be that image of Jesus. Our will should be that of Jesus, to do the will of God! Adam and Eve were the 1st Humanity and they were marred in disobeying God and doubting him. A dead humanity! Jesus is the New Humanity the 2nd Humanity. Jesus is not marred but perfect! 2nd Humanity=LIFE=HOPE=Redemption=LOVE
Jesus died to let us be our own character so we too can have fellowship with man so we can learn to have fellowship with God. That is of coarse that you too have the will of Jesus and that is the will of God! That will is LOVE! If people do not want to believe in a God it is wise to work in the 2nd Humanity=LIFE=Love! The basics, Love one Another!

God did create man in His image. He gave man the qualities in Him but with certain limits.
This cannot be supported for trinity. Since flesh of man dies, man is functionless and stops operating when he is dead.
What happened the moment Jesus Christ died. Did the world stop? or Father in heaven Cry? Nothing happened.!
Trinity is the biggest blasphemy against God Almighty. You say, God ate food and God had the call of nature and sex. etc etc. God cried, God rested, God was baby....God died....Making God Almighty an animal in action... This is not the God which was taught by all the Prophets including Jesus Christ (pbuh). He never said He was God or asked to worship Him.
