It really depends upon the christian and what denomination they are. I'm married to a christian and never once has he tried to change my views about anything. I'd call my husband a moderate christian as he does not believe some of what the bibles purports and doesn't believe in that unequally yoked bs. In fact he says being married to someone who doesn't believe the same is more interesting and gives things perspectives he otherwise wouldn't have seen.

Here's one of the weird twist about life, only God knows who's your true soul mate is, not any of the people knows, regardless of one's belief.
You don't force things, but seek God's help to finding your true soul mate. Sometimes life tests you experience helps bring true soul mates together. Just because others approve or not, it's not their decision to make.
Don't force things, but be patient. Due time will help tell.
The bible warns that their will be men seeing their own wife or parents having sex in broad day light and not know who they are actually watching.
So many people forces marriage, even when they say they seek God's help, many still forces. Yet they are unaware that their true soul mate may be some one who is a porn star etc. Like wise with their parents. People has their true soul parents, their really real parents. Your human birth parents may not actually be your true parents. It's not the suit they wear on the inside, but the soul that's inside the suit.
What's really going on in the world, would really turn people's stomach if they knew.
Take Mary for example, Her body was used to make a suit for when God the father to wear, so that the father may appear in the image of his son. The body was only a suit, not the actual son as many falsely believes. So, as for Catholics claiming that Mary is the mother of God, that's actually a false teaching, because God had already existed.
Don't force things but be patient.
In the old testament God put more males and females on the and said, "Now these are God's children". Why would he say that, because they listened to God and found their true soul mate, not force a mate.

That's an excellent point. The way I see it, Christians believe that I'm going to be tortured in Hell for all eternity and that I deserve it simply because I believe differently from them. How could I possibly even have a real friendship, let alone a loving trusting relationship with someone who thinks that about me?

I would not care to date a Christian, not just for fear of rejection but because I have to really struggle to respect it. I don't approve of its morals or its world view, particularly regarding women. And I would never date someone who would think I am 'damned'.

I have done this in the past, but none of them had any chance of working out. They all thought I should hold them higher than my own desires, that was the right thing to do. That is what Christianity teaches women ought to do. I'll have none of that! The man I fell in love with is an atheist, and he values me for who I am. I'm a Pagan and a Taoist, but he accepts my views and I accept his.

But it's really funny, when we argue he always threatens to quote Scripture at me (especially if I'm winning): "Obey your husband! The husband is your head!" and we crack up.

Christians really believe that an invisible flying creature is floating above their heads concerned with every minute detail of every single particle in the universe. What sane person would want to spend any time with a nut job like that?

I think it depends on the Christian.
Im agnostic and pretty much have always been. For about 3 years I dated a Christian guy.
He pestered me about everything about church. Not wearing the right clothes, smoking in my car while we driving to church, the right way to pray to impress his dad...blah blah blah.
Yet I dont think this had anything to do with him being a "christian" rather than a genuine PIA, whiney titty baby, mamma's boy.
In hindsight he was a fake..when he wasnt up his mamma or daddy's butt he was getting drunk, smoking and cussing just as much as I was, sometimes worse. What he was trying to do is portray that I was this "good little girl" it was for appearances only.

im leaning towards atheist, and my fiance is catholic.
I think it depends on the person your dating and how you both express yourselves. If the poerson yout dating is like some of the christians here, then yes, id see it as a problem, but if they respected you for who you are, despite your beliefs, then it should be fine. Agree to dissagree, and also talk about the things you will need to compromise about He knows im anti-religious...and respects my views, and understands them. And i respect, but dissagree with his.

I was married to a Christian. More than anything else, that is what led to our divorce. It's a completely different view of the world. Not only did she think I was going to hell, but it led to incompatibility on many levels, as I tended to see the reality of a situation, while she was always trying to figure out why "god" put us in a given situation, etc. It led to a lot of arguments. I wanted resolutions to problems. She wanted to pretend the problems didn't exist, etc.

Of course there's going to be incompatibility. It's two different mind sets. That's why scripture says:

2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

It is not for a Christian to tell anyone they are going to Hell for any reason. Christians are by definition not permitted to judge people.
