There are no good italian restaurants in Little Italy.
Go the "the real Little Italy" of NYC, Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.
Roberto Restaurant 603 Crescent Avenue Bronx, NY 10458 • 718-733-9503 is the best of the best and expensive.
Dominicks 2335 Arthur Ave, Bronx, NY - (718) 733-2807 is also very good and less expensive then Roberto. They have long communal tables and no menu. The sever will tell you what they have that day, Don't be miffed though, it's all very, very good.
Emilia's Restaruant 2331 Arthur Avenue Bronx, New York is also outstanding.
Also don't miss pastries and coffee after dinner at Egidio Pastry Shop 622 E 187th St, Bronx, NY - (718) 295-6077 or De Lillo's Pastry Shop. Address:, 606 E 187th
You can walk from either restaurant to either pastry shop in 5 minutes.
You be glad you went extra distance to Arthur ave and didn't waste your money at the touirst traps around Grand and Mott.
That is of course if you want REALLY good food.

Many answers listed are correct. Little Italy is only one block long now due to the expansion of Chinatown. Good italian restaurants are all over Manhattan and some are already mentionned. Keep in mind that a good italian restaurant does not come cheap in Manhattan.
Go on-line to zagats.com and search by neighborhood.

None - they're all touristy now, and I've heard the food isn't good.
Go to the real Little Italy - in the Bronx. Try Enzo's or Umberto's on Arthur Avenue.
Or, if you want to stay in Manhattan, go to Paola's on the Upper East Side. Magnifico!
Have to be downtown? Eat in Chinatown (Peking Duck House) and cross over Canal Street to Little Italy for espresso and cannolis at Ferrara's! Yum

The restaurants in Little Italy suck and are for tourists.
Try Mosconi's in Greenwich Village or as others have said the outer boroughs (Arther Ave in the Bronx, 18th Ave in Brooklyn).
If you must go to a restaurant in Little Italy, go to Forlini's on Mott St. It's the best of the bunch down there.

Well I was just there last week, and we ate at Benitos II twice. It is at 163 Mulberry street, and the food was phenomenal, and may I add that we are TOTAL COMPLETE food snobs. So I have to disagree with the other reviews you recieved. They have an appetizer, I forgot what it was called, but its bread stuffed w/ cheese, and cooked then it has a caper sauce over it. It was incredible. So if you really desire to expierence Little Italy, do it.........w/ Benitos II you WONT be disapointed I promise!!!!!

Little Italy is complete garbage. It is there for tourists, not locals. I recommend going to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.
