For any Christian who has slandered Christianity you should be deeply ashamed. Here's what our holy Prophet pbuh said:

Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them. No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims’ houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God’s covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate. No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray. Their churches are to be respected.

They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world).”

Is there ever an end to your negativity and slander? "I contend that virtually the only Koran verses that commend violence are referring to the need to defend against the Meccan siege of Medina and the machinations of the Meccans' allies. Since the pagan Meccan civilization no longer exists and since aggressive Meccan polytheism is not a force in today's world, it is not clear that any of these verses have any relevance whatsoever any more. There are no Koran verses that commend violence against anyone but the Meccan pagans and their allies"

I was wondering when someone would bring that quote up. No one believes it coming from an atheist's mouth.

Yes, the quotation is accurate: Islam (in its unradicalized form) is expected by its founder to be respectful of "the People of the Book". Sadly, this particular passage is frequently overlooked by critics and practicioners alike.

Which makes this entire struggle in the Middle East even more tragic.

Meanwhile, unbelievers like me stand aside and shake our heads in amazement and exasperation.

Father K, your ignorace is too much! That verse was taken of of context to serve your own purpose. And don't no one complain that I am trying to pull the ol' "Out of Context Card", because it is valid. The verse you stated refers to and is only valid in TIMES OF WAR.

Look what I can do!

Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Now I could convince a whole bunch of people that Christianity preaches violence and never advocates peace based on this OUT-OF-CONTEXT verse. But I am intelligent enough to know that that would be absurd, because it is not true. I don't do it to you, so please don't to it to me.

You say the comment made by our prophet was assumed to be taught in Christianity..NO, our prophet knew that wasn't taught in Christianity, but he knew it was a belief that was never even mentioned in the Bible. So he commented on the belief, and knew it was never the teachings of the Bible. Nice try tho.

You (conveniently) left this one out, my deluded friend:

"Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)
