It depends what you will be doing with the PS3. Sony is also talking about a 40GB and phasing out the 60GB. It depends if your going to be putting music, pictures and videos on the PS3 hard drive and how many games/add ons you are going buy from PSN. I have a 60GB and I dont think I will use it but Sony intended it to be not only a gaming console but a multimedia center. There is actually a way to swap out your hard drive for a 120 GB laptop drive. But at the end of the day it just depends what you are gonna be using it for. If i didnt't have the 60GB I would get it just to say I have the 80 GB lol But PS3 is the way to go no matter what package you go with. I know they are offering some good packages with the 60GB now ( rumor has it the 60 GB is going bye bye) so you get alot of extras at a good price. @ 499 Its only $20 more then Xbox 360 Elite and has more power, better reliablity and can play Blu-Ray Disc's. Check out www.ps3fanboy.com they usually have up to dat enews on the ps3

No because i already own a 60GB PS3 and also you can install your own hard drive. There is a very serious problem with the 80GB.

details below:

Just keep your 60GB PS3 if you own one and install your own hard drive, but remember read your instuctions.

Here is instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkm9wizep...

However, the Emotion Chip, that was responsible for the backwards compatibility for the PS2 games has been taken out, and instead a software emulation is now taking care of the backwards compatibility.
However, instead of a 100% compatibility with older PS2 games, you now have to look in a list, if a game is working or if the game has trouble during gameplay.

I strongly recommend you getting the new psp debuting this september because it has better ram, lcd screen and tv output and other cool things like slimmer and lighter. Im getting one.

Nope. I don't play on line so why do I need an 80GB hard drive?

Heck, I probably won't buy a PS3 till the price comes down under $400 and the games get better.

No, but then i'm in the UK where we can only get a 60GB one with emulation (which is a pain, but seeing as i still have my PS2 and the list of compatible games grows fairly steadily i'd hardly call it serious), which i do have.

As for 360 fan-boy; Haze, Killzone2, Metal gear 4, Gran Turismo 5, Heavenly Sword, ....

Yes, I am planing on buying one! Or the 60GB version, which ever I can afford. At least you get a game if you get the 80GB version. I guess the 100 dollars more is worth 20GB more with the free game.
