I purchased two oil paintings in the Dominican Republic. One is 30 x 40 and another 12 x 32. I went to several places, including Michaels and they are charging $600 to put them on a stretcher, including a fabric mat and frame, which is more than what I paid for the paintings ($400). I paid a lot less for art framing in Miami!

Michaels Craft Stores and Frame and Saves are all around the city call each and see who has what you want at the price you want. Micheals usually has a coupon for like 20-40 % off framing in the paper once every few weeks.

Hmm, Michaels usually has about the best prices in town, if you grab their 50% off coupon out of the newspaper (did you try it with that??). I am guessing that maybe the stretching is the problem for them it may be soemthing they dont do a lot (which is why I always get it frames and stretched,a nd then pay the little bit to have it shipped to my house). The places mentioned above are quite expensive, Frame And Save in particular. Maybe you should try Hobby Lobby, I have heard that they do framing, which may be worthwhile. Another option- just stretch the pictures, and hang them without the frame- for an original artwork, many artists paint the sides so you can hang them that way if you choose- it really doent look bad for many pictures! Good luck, unstreched paintings always end up costing a whole lot more than they look :)
