Cape May, NJ is nice. It is the southernmost point of NJ.

Annapolis, MD is nice also, take a walking tour of the Naval Academy, it was enjoyable to see the cadets and the grounds.

From Bordentown, there are many towns within 2 hour driving distance in both MD, DE and PA.

#1. MD shares no border with NJ but Elkton and Aberdeen are decent towns within 2 hours of NJ.

#2. DE shares half of the Delaware River with NJ. There's only Wilmington, Dover and New Castle as well as many small towns along DE 1

#3. PA shares half of the Delaware River with NJ - there are a lot of towns on the PA side of the River within a 2 hour drive of anywhere in NJ, including NYC.

Newark Delaware is good, right by the University, close to malls, I-95 an hour to Philly or Baltimore, eastern shore Maryland and Pa Dutch Country.
