You should find out more about it before making a decision, how about reading a basic book about the life of Muhammad for starters?

Before you make any decisions, look to the history behind Islam. Look at the life of Mohammed by a third party, a disinterested observer, who doesn't have a vested interest in Islam.
If you search with an open mind, you'll quickly discover many discrepancies in Islam, such as it's origin, the life of Mohammed, and what modern Muslems CLAIM to be a religion of peace, versus what the Koran actually teaches.

Anything that gets you closer to the great spirit is great, besides you're never going to find out what works for you asking other people. Just go for it, and if you find out you don't like it; try something else.

God, guide us on the straight path.
THose on whom you've bestowed your grace
Not on those who earn your wrath
And go astray.
Ameen.
