What's that verse about a wolf in sheeps clothing? What kind of church has a song in their hymnal entitled "Praise to the man" (regarding Joseph Smith of course).

Name alone does not make a church good or evil.

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." (2 Corinthians 11:13-14)

False teachers will call themselves servants of God, but that does not make it true. False teachers will try to look like they are followers of God, but that does not make it true.

We should receive what is taught by any church, and then search the scriptures (the Bible) to see if it is true! (Acts 17:110) If a doctrine agrees with the Bible, accept it! If it does not, reject it!

I don't believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be evil (I'm a card-carrying member). However, if I were to start an evil organization, I'd choose a name to hide it.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. I would like to share a bit about my belief in Jesus. The Jesus I know was killed about 2000 years ago, he is the Son of God. He redeemed all of us from the fall of Adam, and is willing to take upon himself all of my and your sins, to pay the price if we will take upon ourself his name and repent. He is the only way I or any of us can ever return to our Father, the only way we can be saved.
The book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, you will find reference to or teachings of Jesus at least every few pages clear through this book.
Unless you consider being taught to repent and be baptized, then follow the commandments taught in the scriptures and be modern prophets to be evel, this church is not evel. I sure have not found anything here evel. Just for the record I am 46, a high priest and have participated in temple ordnances. I have taught the gospel of Jesus Christ in many setting over the years.
May God bless you, and I caution you, you may be judged in the same manor you judge others, I am more concerned in God's judgment of me then your openion of me.

Why would an evil religion be called the Holy Roman Catholic Church?

I'm probably the only mormon to answer your question. First why do you think we're evil. There isn't anything in our doctrine that would make us evil.

We put Jesus Christ's name in our church because our church is centered on him and we worship him. I don't see any evil in that.

Well, "evil" is purely a matter of opinion...and at least you had the common decency to say "religion" and not "Christianity" - because it's most certainly NOT Christian.

The "Jesus Christ" in the tltle means nothing. It's a different "Jesus", another "gospel" - and your "church" is, in fact, the exact definition of the "church" that St. Paul warned us was coming:

2 Cor. 11:3-4 "But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted-- you may well put up with it.

another Jesus - (allos) is a primary word; "else," different (in many applications) The name is the same, its the name Jesus from the Bible but it is not the Jesus of the Bible. He is different one, with some similarities on the surface level.

A different Spirit -(heteros)-to number as opposed to some former person or thing the other of two; referring to quality: that is, one that is not of the same nature, form, class, or kind, to be different.

Another Gospel (heteros) of uncertain affinity; different: altered, strange. It is not the same one Paul preached, it has a qualitative difference.

The Jesus of Scripture, the Christian Jesus, was not the "spirit brother of Lucifer". Our God is not "an exalted man" living on a planet near the star Kolob...

Need I go on?

Call yourselves anything you like....but please...don't attempt to pass off whatever you are as "Christian".

LOL... yeah, I understand where you're coming from...

Mr Peepers- The term, "Mormons," IS a nickname.

Oh, and since we're "not Christian," why do we have so many songs in our hymnbook that refer to Jesus Christ?

I see this all the time and it pains me deeply, and I really need to get the word out before it becomes a universal error of the greatest and unimaginable magnitude:

"Mormons ARE a nickname." Sheeesh - English has rules of grammar too.
