I had my Ford Escape maintenenced at Ford a year ago flushing all fluids including Transmission last year. I brought it into a transmission place because i was really having trouble with it and they told me i was 2 qts low. I didnt have any leaks or anything like that. Can i hold Ford responsible? Is it really possible to go thru 2 Quarts in a year?

I have 133,000 miles, i took it in at 100,000 miles. It's at the transmission shop now because my gear shaft ( i think that's what it's called) is shot. They are saying it's from the lack of fluids. I know it has been a year, but to go thru that much fluid and there is no leak at all is odd.

No... if you are leaking tranny fluid they would have seen signs of the leak at the shop. Sounds like the ford dealer didn't refill the transmission when they flushed it. Possible they just poured in what they thought was enough and didn't actually check the fluid level.

After 33K miles of driving, I doubt that you have any recourse against Ford or the dealer, at this point.

It is possible that the when the dealer refilled the fluid, they did not fill the torque converter. But other things are possible that may not be their fault.

The bottom line is that you need to have the transmission repaired and bite the bullet. Sorry to hear about your prolem.

Good luck.

There is no way that you lost 2 quarts of fluid with out either...
1.) A leak
2.) Someone didn't top it off
3.) Who ever topped it off did not recheck it at operating temp.
After a year it will be hard to hold them responsible since the fluid levels should be check regularly though.
Hope this helps :)

Do you have a warranty? if so take it to the dealer and explain your problem. Use a different dealer or ASE certified mechanic shop for a second opinion. Sounds like you do have either a leak or a bad converter that is burning the fluid. {ull the dipstick and smell it. Does it smell like burnt peanut butter? If so you need to get it (the tranmission) repaired.

I don't know if you can sue them. But you can complain to them and see if they will fix it for free. They have your paper so they know why you was in for service the last time you .I would Talk to the Service manager or even the owner.I think you do need to have this looked at for sure because it does not sound right at all.

Depending on where its leaking, it could be in from a pressurized line and only leaks when you are driving so you wont notice it.
