buy me something you actually though "hey he would like that." or "thats a newer version of that thing he has" not a one size fits all guy gift.

As dumb as it sounds, same thing a woman wants... find out what the guy is interested in .... if he likes a certain sports team, get tickets or buy a hat or shirt.... do something he likes without any negative comments... and just have fun... enjoy it what it's worth.... a romantic gesture is something that shows you are more then just a friend... beyond what a normal friend will do...
