I'd try two colors. One color for the top portion of the wall, and another color for the bottom portion. Then just make a jagged line across the room that looks something like a stock ticker graph that has gone crazy. The top half I'd probably paint a bold red and the bottom half I'd paint like a dark charcoal red. Then I'd go with like a medium to medium-light gray carpet. For the walls, I'd hang like a couple electric guituars on the wall at an angle. Maybe a bright red one and one that looks about like a '57 Chevy blue. For a little bit of fun take some cool looking 33 1/3 record albums and put them in picture frames and hang them around the wall. Another thing you could do is take some 45 records and mount them in a picture frame with like 3 or 4 in one frame. Then add some black and white photographs in picture frames. I'd recommend silver or nickel colored picture frames to kind of stand out against the wall. Black could work, but not as well for the picture frame color. The walls are already dark so I'd want a contrasting color of picture frame so a metallic or silver type of color I think would work best. Anything rocker that you can find that is 3-Dimensional like the guitars for instance to hang on the wall will give it some kick and make the room stand out. If you can, used some accent lighting to shine on the major pieces of furniture and wall hangings to make them stand out. You can also use the points from that line to run your eye up to or down to whatever is hanging on the wall. They eye tends to follow the path of the line. For the red, I'd like a red that is about between the color of a hot red and a cherry red.

I picked those colors because they tend to go with what you are wanting. Red gives some nice boldness to the room. A dark charcoal grey isn't rocker black, but is close and gives some seriousness to the room. Silver is just accent color for those colors. And you can hardly never go wrong with black and white pictures.

If the wall are dark, I normally like a lighter colored carpet. Although with those colors, I wouldn't want to go too light or it'd look cheap. So I recommend a medium tone for the carpet.
