Will people stop saying this is racist? A "black church" is not a church where only black people are allowed, nor is it one where Whites, Hispanics, etc, are not welcome. In fact many of them have White pastors! It's simply a church that is culturally African American. The worship style and preaching style is different. Don't most whites go to majority white churches? Think about it. Because whites are the majority ethnic group in the US, they just call it a "church."

RE:
Where are the best black non denominational or christian churches in Indianapolis, Indiana?
my husband and I just moved to the area and come from another non denominational church. We are trying to make our transition smooth and into a church we can call home.

Try looking for a "Christian' church. Yes there is a church called Christian. It may be a denomination but they are all self governed. Here in st. louis I attend one that is alive! We have great contemp. music-man yesterday was AWESOME. Not one ounce of boring at my church. The Christian church comes from the Restoration movement where church folks tried to get church back the bible and not rely on the tradition's of men.

There is a black minister there in Indy named Rev. Tom Brown. He leads a Baptist church I believe. He spoke at a spiritual retreat in Colorado, that I attended a couple of years back. I would try his church regardless or it's affiliation. He was so powerful and very open-minded. Sorry I can't provide you more info, but I highly urge you to see him speak. The retreat was not Baptist or even exclusively Christian, but when he spoke it was all inclusive and his message crossed all boundaries. GOOD LUCK!

Please visit the Capital City Seventh-day adventist Church. I have a friend that Pastor's this thriving and inspiring church in the city. They also operate a very large Christian School if you have school aged children. Please visit before you form an opinion about the church. I am sure they will welcome you with open arms. The church main worship service is held on Saturday morning at 11:00am. Bible Study begins at 9:30am. ENJOY!

Why does it have to be black? Why not break the habit and explore a non-denominational church that takes all people, regardless of color?

what?? what do you mean "black" church?? see.. .this is what i meant by asking my question "why can black peole get away with things white people cant get away with, like prejudice towards white poeple?"... and here is proof of what i mean... if i (a white person) asked this same question, but wanting only a white church, i would be called "racist, biggot,intolerant,etc".. but i bet no one else will even notice it...and if you will think about it... youwill find what i am saying actually does happen and it is true... oh yeah, my question got deleted btw, cause i guess osmeone thought it was racist.... but, im sure no one will say a word about this.
