I have been experiencing some squeaky noise while I drive my car.You can hear it all in the steering wheel when I turn. What can cause that noise. My guess was maybe that I need some struts or what not. But as soon as I pull out to drive and turn the steering wheel the squeaking starts. What could this be?I cant afford to take it to a mechanic just for them to tell me what the problem is.PLEASE HELP.

If the noise is coming from the steering wheel itself, most likely it is caused by a trim piece that is a bit out of place.

Look for a plastic trim panel on the steering column (where the wheel turns) you may have to remove the trim piece and sand down the edge with fine sandpaper to stop the rubbing!

This usually happens in the hot weather when the heat causes the panel to expand a bit!

Ford's are notorious for making squeaky noises. I've driven Fords for most of my life and every one had a noise that wasn't explainable and did no harm.

With that said, here are a few things to think about while it's making the noise. Is it affecting the way it drives? Is the steering becoming more difficult when making turns? Have you checked the power steering fluid level? Does it do it all the time while driving or just when you are making turns? While parked, with the engine on, does it make the sound? Or, while parked with the engine on, does it make it only when the wheel is turned? If most of these questions are yes, then more than likely there is something with the power steering pump.

Dude: Regarding the squeaking noise in your other question. I know what that squeaking noise is: two mice having sex in the trunk of your car. LOL.
