I find this happens because people are in such a hurry to get to nowhere. My husband has to go out on calls for these kinds of people, he's a volunteer fireman and they are responsible for cleaning up the messes these people leave behind when they crash or cause someone else to. Your best bet is to continue driving the way you do, allow them to pass when you come to a dotted line by slowing slightly (you don't have to pull over) and hope you don't pass them further down the road in a tangled mass of metal.

Country roads normally have those divided yellow lines that allow them to pass. If they choose not to use them then don't be so upset if they managed to get a drivers license without a written exam.
As far as why people are rude, it's normally b/c people that "drive the speed limit" either don't or are some of the rudest drivers on the road. They get the backlash of their actions and then want to cry "why you always picking on me :( ". They make frequent stop right turns; stay in the passing lanes; don't drive with the flow of traffic; don't use turn signals; will frequently jump out in front of people then slow down; I can go on and on.

We must keep in mind that the older we get our reflexes tend to slow down, therefore we a more cautious on anything that we undertake ,plus time is not in our favour anymore so we automatically slow down ,our speed is slow and stop. When we are younger we are fast productive and at times irresponsible. It is only when we mature that we value life a little more. So when I see an older person on the street I admire them for their independence even if they do drive slowly, what's the rush!!

Because of the concept of "making good time." The elderly for the most part are no longer interested and are in no hurry to get anywhere.
Tailgating is always rude and dangerous and the mark of an immature driver.

It's not just older people that it happens to. It's just safe drivers in general. It seems like so many people are desperate to "be first" these days. I say, "Go ahead....be first, because if there's a ditch ahead, you will be the first one to reach it and fall in. I'll see the trouble shortly afterwards and drive around!"

Well here in Florida it's because when the left turn signal turns green, and I'm fourth in line to turn, they count to ten before they push the gas, so I have to wait 2 minutes for the next light.
But I'm really relatively patient; I would never tailgate anyone. That's stupid and dangerous.

People are brave in their little car world. They also tend to pick on people that they veiw as being weaker than they are. Most are cowards and asses. I turn my windsheild woper on them and get them wet. WORKS FOR ME! LOL!

Older people tend to bne much more cautious than is necessary. My mom has a fit when I take a particular curve driving over the speed limit, but to go under the limit means you miss out on enjoying the drive. And I've never flipped the car over or anything like that.
The fact is that if you aren't willing to go the speed that the people who built the road recommend you go, then maybe you should consider riding a bike to where you're going.
