ANCIENT Egyptians -- before Islam even existed. There's your answer to that one.
Distilling can mean distilling anything, it doesn't have to mean alcohol like you want it to. And actually, it most probably didn't. If it was meant for alcohol, then it was when Saudi Arabia was dominated by Pagans, once again BEFORE Islam. Most Egyptians and "Arabians" are Muslim, and therefore cannot drink alcohol.
You failed to mention that it was not the Arabs who invented alcohol. The ancient Egyptians weren't even Muslim, and just because one place invented black powder and another invente metalworks (just being hypothetical, calm down) doesn't make them the inventors of guns.

95% of Egyptians and Arabians do not drink alcohol? If that is true I am th King of America!
Everywhere they get the chance, they drink themselves unconscious you mean. Really. Even in Iran half of the shops sell whisky under the table. Alcholism under Iranian migrants in Europe is rampant.
A friend of mine has done business for many years in several Arab countries. He organises parties in his home in Europe now and then. Every time I see the same pattern. In the begining the arabs are extremely friendly and talkative. I really enjoy some of them. But after a few hours thay sit together on the sofas and fall asleep, drunk as a Swiss guard.
One for the road and a really last one for the Swiss guard!

Islam forbade drinking alcohol in roughly 600 AD. Islam's prohibition of alcohol came long after the discovery of whoop a s s.
Historians believe the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians accidentally discovered beer independently at roughly the same time, around 10,000 BC. They think water contaminated stored grain, most likely wheat, and wild yeast began fermentation.
With the exception of water and possibly fruit juice the next thing that humans learned to drink was beer. The Egyptians paid workers constructing the pyramids in beer.

Islam is a relatively new religion. Alcohol predates Islam. Simple as that really.

when God commands in the Quran that Muslims should not drink Alcohol, Muslims broke their bottles and destory it immediatly. that's how faithful those muslims were from the past.
However the other Arabs who are not that religious or non-muslims are crazy about drinking Alcoholic.
