When I graduated from IT some years back, I didn't get a job in IT. The market was bad. I ended doing other jobs. Lately, I was also unemployed due to the economic conditions.

However, in the meantime, I have also taken short courses to keep myself up to date such as MCSA or MCSE or CCNA or Oracle.

Do you think I can now go back to the IT field after 3 to 4 years? What do you think my chances are?

Hi mate, I think finding work is definitely possible. I completed a TAFE course back in 2000, a Cert IV in IT and I'm able to find work, although it's entry level IT work. I'm also advancing my skills at the moment.

It sounds like you've tried to keep up with the times by doing the short courses which employers would look at positively.

However you may need to find a lower position and work your way back up, but I do think you will be successful. Perhaps lower your expectations... but in most companies if you prove yourself you will be given the opportunity for advancement. I hope it goes well for you.
