Hi,
As much as I enjoy aussie rules and rugby, I'm going to be thoroughly missing baseball and American football when I move to Melbourne in September. Are there any bars in Melbourne that anyone knows of that will show baseball and/or U.S. football? At the very least are there place(s) that might show the World Series in October? I know I'm pushing it but it's literally my biggest fear upon coming to Australia. And I obviously don't care that the games would be early morning.

Thanks a lot.

I have seen the final of the World Series on cable here and they run the Superbowl too. Because of the time difference the show here is not likely to be live, could be early morning of course. Other games will be carried too depending on what else is on round the world. If there is an England - Australia cricket test on baseball or gridiron will get bumped here of course. And of course there is always the net.

At the very least newspapers will carry reports on the World Series and American football games specially towards the finals. Don't expect it to headline the sports pages though.

You can also see US basketball from time to time. You will find some gridiron and baseball clubs in Melbourne and any amount of basketball.

Downloading it would the best option. There is a possibility that some Pay TV mobs have it in their packages. However, I doubt it would be live.

One of the channels shows your Gridiron Superbowl grand final live, as it is daytime here.

I've seen Baseball in pubs, but it isn't live and I dont think it was the grand final.

The World Cup is on in September, watch that instead and cheer for the Wallabies, or your USA Eagles.

Good luck with the move

Before you go, get a Slingbox Video, and hook it up at a friend's or your parent's house, anyone who has cable really, and you will will be able to watch whatever is on their system in the States on your computer. You just need a fast Internet connection, or Wi Fi on your end. There are no monthly charges. It has a separate tuner, so it doesn't interfere with the host's TV.
I use it all the time with my laptop when I'm on the road, it's the greatest thing.
