I've had coffee a couple of times in my 18 year life span, I don't think it's anything special. I work in a law office where everyone has a cup of hot coffee at their desk, and I live in a home where we have multiple coffee makers and two addicted to caffeine parents (after years of drinking coffee). My question is this: I don't drink coffee nor do I purposely and specifically drink caffeine (it may be in a glass of soda or two but 95% of what I drink is caffeine free) to wake myself up or any other effect of caffeine. As I get ready for college, should I stay this way? Is it a good thing not to drink caffeine daily? Am I losing anything if I start drinking it daily? Granted, there are days I'm really tired and a little sluggish but like 80% of the time I run on my own energy as oppposed to a beverage of some sort.

It is a very good thing that you have avoided falling into the caffeine trap. I have managed to avoid it most of my life, I find only now that I drink it occasionally. Too much caffeine has many adverse affects on your health, if you feel sluggish, eating a well balanced diet is far better for you than drinking caffeine.

I used not to drink coffee before because of the "caffeine" content which most people considers stimulant as it increases heart beat therefore blood circulates faster also. Literally fine for young & healthy but quite not for the elderly and those with heart problems.
I made a sharp "U" turn when I tasted an organic coffee called Lingzhi Coffee. It tastes so good! A caffeine content of only 0.06% yet with vitamins & minerals. I think this is the beverage that u need as the vitamins and minerals in it will keep u up instead of the caffeine.

I love my coffee while reading the paper in the morning, but then I stop. Drinking a lot of caffeine is only problematic if one consumes 10 cups or more per day. So having none or a couple cups is a push.

You can always find something better than coffee if you need a wake up! Tea helps and it has good caffeine in it, not the addicting kind. When you start this, usually you need it every morning or you get massive headache's. I would keep up what your doing!

That's a good for me. What about the other freshies like water or tea? Keep yourself that way. It's not bad once in a while but it could get you back to drinking coffee just to wake up

I don't drink coffee, never have. No reason to ever start drinking it unless you just like the taste.
