No problem.... easiest way is to be born here. If you don't fit that description, you must be a legal resident with a permit to work (green card). If you are not in the US legally then getting a Social Security number requires to you committ fraud and nowadays, it is relatively easy for an employer or financial institution to discover that you are using an invalid or unauthorized number. Then you get to jail and then you get deported.
Another option, even if you are here illegally is to enlist in the armed forces and serve your term honorably. With an honorable discharge, you can easily get green card or even citizenship, and we'd all be glad to have you.

Go to the social security office with all the correct paperwork and they will just issue one that comes in the mail within about 2 weeks. Of course, you need proof of legal residency etc.

Swim across the Rio Grande, find a guy in a red Chevy pick-up named Juan. Go up to his window and ask if he knows where you can find a good pair of jeans. He will then direct you to a taco stand 2 miles down the road. At the taco stand, ask for Maria. Tell her you need to see the wizard and give her $50. You go to your local SSA office (Social Security Administration) and you fill out an application there. If all goes well, they'll send it in the mail in about 2 weeks.
