How can I tell if my cat is in season?
Cats in season show a series of symptoms:
A cat becomes more vocal, and her 'calling sounds' are very different from the sounds she normally makes.
She will roll on the floor, crouch on all fours, shake her pelvis and rub against people and furniture.
Some cats look as though they are writhing in agony.
Female cats have mating cycles, and the hormones that activate these cycles are affected by the time of year, usually in mid - winter, spring and again in late summer and autumn.
During these seasons, a female cat will go into heat every two to three weeks and stay in heat for days at a time until she's mated.
Cats that live indoors with controlled lighting or in warm climates, cycle all year round so can be in season all the time.
A female cat becomes sexually mature from about 4 to 5 months, though this can be later due to when they were born. Longhaired cats tend to mature later than short haired ones.
A simple test to see if she is in season is, when the cat is on the floor, grab the scruff of her neck with one hand. With the other hand either stroke or scratch her along her back by the base of her tail. If your cat is on heat, she will react by treading with her hind feet and swishing her tail, moving it to one side.
If she is in heat, you will need to make sure she doesn't get pregnant by keeping her indoors by herself, and discussing neutering with your vet.

They do have "Heats" anytime after 6 months. It can last up to 20 days. They tend to lick their bottom a lot because it is uncomfortable. They are likely to pee on clothes, carpet, beds, laundry or whatever. They become very loving and meow a lot, some even howl. This is not a pleasant time for your kitty. If she is inside all the time, good luck getting much sleep during this time. I suggest getting them altered before their first heat. It is healthier for them anyway. At most vet offices if you get their shots and surgery at the same time, you get a bargain rate. Call around for rates. Ask friends, coworkers, etc., about good vets in your area. Some rescues do clinics for shots, microchipping, and spay or neuter. Their rates are usually even better.

They do have periods because my cat has one about every three months. She is an inside cat and she's still a virgin. And I've noticed that there is not just a speck of blood but it's like a human having her cycle.

They go into heat, but they don't bleed, you'd have to ask your vet why as I'm not sure why dogs do and cats don't.

Usually, which too long for me. I think it depends on the guy as well as his face though. Certain guys can easily pull off long hair and other folks can't.

No they don't have periods - they only ovulate in response to being mated and they don't need to shed the lining of the uterus.
There are various uterine infections that may cause a discharge however.

of course they do! i have a female cat and the only time you will notice they are having their period is when they are ill, (and even then you'll only notice a speck) they are very clean animals, so i know it sounds yucky, but they are always licking them selves down there. even more so when they are bleeding.
you may only notice it when there ill, because they are too ill and don't have the energy to be cleaning them selves 24/7
