The City of Waukegan is trying to add a law that allows any person convicted of a drug or violent crime to be reported to the immigration department for possible deportation. Yesterday, 5,000 immigrants stormed the council chambers to protest the action. Does this make it clear what the illegal immigrants really want? What do you people think of this?

it is a statistical fact that a high percentage of crimes are being committed by illegals. near my hometown,a pregnant lady - 7months - and her 2 year old daughter were killed by a drunk driver who was here illegally,with a mexican license. i am fine for people who want to come here legally and contribute to our society,but if you can't follow the laws and respect our country - you should be punished and sent home. this problem is becoming ludicrous - if you aren't a legal resident - you have no right to protest. as if the job of our law officers is not difficult already....

Keep protest makes the USA citizen more persistent in enforcing the No amnesty bill .Also makes it easier to enforce the law We are closing the borders & build the fence. AZ+COL+GA+= are enforing the laws an there leaving No jobs No pay No stay it's a matter of time when all the state enforce out laws.Then you will here the silence.We are 200 million strong an have spoken.Self deport an enter legally or be deported an no return. Wow some peoples solutions are so detrimental! i think of that's a sprint ridiculous besides. I even have unlawful pals and likely they do sell oranges and culmination on highway corners. there is your evidence. the two way, there became this entire ordeal some halloweens in the past the place human beings have been giving out pop rocks that have been incredibly crystal meth. SO is does get kinda risky taking nutrition from strangers. Thats what there looking out for and for this reason they want papers. I wish that wasn't a subject even however that's.

I live in Illinois, actually about 45 minutes from Waukegan. We are being over run by these criminal illegals. Something has to be done. The City of Waukegan is trying to at least get a START at ridding their area of criminals and I applaud them for doing so. Was ICE there checking documentation of those protesting? If not, they should have been. These criminals have NO rights in this country. Not allowing the police to even ask for or demand documentation is completely wrong. They are not being allowed to do their job.

You are absolutely correct! A friend of mine is a police officer and he told me that local police departments often (always?) have internal policies that do not allow officers to ask about a person's status.
This is a serious flaw in law enforcement and we need it changed!
This should be one of the initial standard questions a police officer should ask and if they are illegal, they should be arrested on the spot and handed over to federal authorities for deportation!
Enforce our laws!

no, it doesn't really say what they want. if anything they're basically saying, "hey! we want our free welfare! hey! we want our free money!" and so on. it ain't quite fair how americans have to have to pay taxes and they don't. if they want to become a citizn; then they need to do it the right way instead of sneaking past the boarder.

illegal, riot, illegals. shoot to kill. yes i know they are not even allowed to tow their cars when they are not licensed or insured. one more thing, they say they want the souther states back, why are they in the north?

this is America, home of the free. people cant help where they are born. i think if they are doing the right thing and living the american life them leave them alone. but all the ones that get in trouble and go to jail for crimes should be sent back home. come over here and live but act like you got some since or you can go back home and be a butt!
