What she is telling you is that this man is the cause of great misery.
In other words, she and he didn't not get along and she can’t stand him.
The question is why? Perhaps she was a flirt and he refused to respond to her. Or maybe he just never helped her when she thought he should. Maybe he was obnoxious towards her. Who knows? Without more information there's no way to tell.
That said, if you are willing to dump a guy because of something someone else tells you about him, then you obviously aren’t that attracted to him. Stop wasting time on someone like that and move on.
Look at it this way, if some guy told your man that he knew you from work and you were a pain in his @$$ and your man asked his friends if he should just dump you over that, how would you feel. Personally, if you were my girl and I saw this question I would just tell you go. Id find someone that wants to be with me and judges me on who I am, not who other people think I may be.
In your place however, if I had ANY DOUBT about a woman I was with, I would take a little time, think it through and if I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to be with her...I'd let her know and be on my way! Bye!
