True worship is God-centered worship. People tend to get caught up in where they should worship, what music they should sing in worship, and how the worship looks to other people. Focusing on these things completely misses the point. Jesus tells us that true worshipers will worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). This means we worship from the heart and the way God calls us to. Worship can include praying, reading God's Word with an open heart, singing, participating in communion, and serving others. It is not limited to one act, but is done properly when the heart and attitude of the person is in the right place.
The first thing we should know is that worship and praise is reserved only for God. Only he is worthy; not any of his servants (Rev 19:10). We are not to worship saints, prophets, statues, angels, any other false gods, or even Mary, mother of Jesus. We also should not be worshiping for the expectation of something in return, such as a miraculous healing. Worship is done for God, and God's pleasure alone. Worship can be public praise to God (Ps 22:22, 35:18), in a congregational setting, where we can proclaim through music and praise our adoration and thankfulness for him and what he has done for us. True worship is felt inwardly, then comes out through our actions. "Going through the motions" out of obligation is unpleasing to God, and is done completely in vain. He can see through all the hypocrisy, and he hates this. He demonstrates this in Amos 5:21-24 as he talks about coming judgment. An example is the story of Cain and Abel, the first sons of Adam and Eve. They both brought gift offerings to the Lord, but he was only pleased with Abel's. Cain brought the gift out of obligation; Abel brought his finest lambs from his flock. He brought out of faith and admiration for God.
True worship is not confined to singing in church, or open praise (although these things are both good and we are told to do them in the Bible), but it is the acknowledgment of God and all his power and glory in the things we do. To do this, we must know God, we can not be ignorant of him (Acts 17:23). Worship is to glorify and exalt God; to show our loyalty and admiration to our Father.

Wow most of the people on here are Christian centered!
Different religions have seen God in different ways, and they have also developed different ways of worshiping God. No two people's idea of God is going to be exactly the same, so you can find a way to worship God that is true to your vision of him as long as it doesn't contradict how God would want you to act or treat others. If you worship God by rollerblading and that gives you a heightened spiritual feeling where your love of God and your thankfulness and awe at God's gifts overtakes you, then that's your way of worshiping.

God accepts all forms of worship by all peoples.
There are many different methods yes.
You can imagine God on top of a very large mountain. a happy pilgrim is on her way up. She takes a path, and walks towards the mountain.
She sees another person who looks to her, "Come to my path", he beckons, "it is the path to God."
But both are on a path to God. Sometimes we don't realize it. Some paths are longer and some are short cuts. sometimes it is good to change a path.
As we get closer to the top, more and more of the paths have joined, till there is but one or two paths that reach the very top.
Everyone of us are souls that are evolving on the path to God. Some don't realize it, some are trying to go against, others are trying hard to move forward..
When I am slightly ahead of another, I may think, "oh that person is on the wrong path, I should guide them to my path." However, it may be that the other person is behind, but still, he is on the path, and making his advancement. if he does not feel attraction to my path, then let him be, he is still making advancement. he may not be ready for my path.
Or it maybe that it only appears that he is behind, but really he is much ahead.
Only God knows our hearts.
so the different religious methods of worship are for the different levels of advancement, and qualification (adhikar) of the individual souls.

Showing respect and loving God is a worship to God. You should not be describe as in these verse in Timothy.
2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Just as your relationship with God is to be a personal and intimate one, so is your worship.
My personal style of worhsip it to marvel in His creation. Scenic views cause me to stand in awe of His majesty.
Music is a form of worship. Remember how King David danced and praised even though he looked silly before his own wife?
A healthy and active prayer life combined with praise and thanksgiving are crucial.
Different denominations and even churches within those groups vary in the worship service. I suppose there simply has to be a method so all members are on the same page......

Sir,
Worshipping a God is never confined to any one way of worship.
As God is Universal and hence the ways are also Universal.
In Hinduism you have a wide choice of choosing your way and the process too.
A Guru can be a true guide for a seeker and advice him the best individual way.

The Hindus have many ways according to the abilities of the person and this is very good. Most if not all in the Gita. Buddhism when meeting with Taoism became zen, a way not dependant on words and letters. Dogen a zen master said "to study Buddhism is to study the self, to study the self is to forget the self, to forget the self is to be enlightened by all things". Any way is a good way as long as the person knows in his/her center {heart} that they are on the right path. This is the most important. For in the end, you, yourself is the truth that is sought. ~*~

"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." Words of Jesus as recorded in John 4:24.
