Its not 'extra money' per sae. You would get seperate rations $264 a month, but would not be allowed to eat in the chow halls for free anymore. You would get Basic Allowance for Housing based on the zip code of your station, or government quarters if they are available. Wait lists vary (if there is a wait list) Generally lower ranking soldiers right out of school (AIT) will have priority for housing. You (as yet) do not pay utilities on post, however off post you would pay all utilities and rent (thats where the BAH comes in).

If you deploy you would get 'Family Seperation Pay' an extra $250 a month to compensate for your spending while deployed.

Yes you get family Seperation pay while at BCT and housing allowance once you get an assignment and report your family sep ends, and you will get seperate rations you can then apply for housing, depending on they type of housing you need ie 2 to 5 bedroom the wait can vary post to post.
Some as long as 18 months, if going to Germany the wait is next day no longer than 2 days.

When coming from Korea to states you will move to top of the list.

Good luck!

the only difference is you will be entitled to BAH at the with dependent rate, and also entitled to Family Separation Allowance after being deployed for more than 30 days.

Housing availability varies from base to base, and is dependent on paygrade and bedroom entitlement as well as availability.

yes to a extent. military member who dont live on bases and especially have families recieve subsidised pay called BAH (housing)or BAQ(quarters) and Seperate ration pay when they live "off base" or outside the military reservation. ......Housing is usually available to most military families on base, some places have wiaiting list based on availability, and rank status is prioritized.
