Sir,

Which evil do you mean ?

Depending upon your status and position in the society you should resist it - but only up to your means.

A common man can never fight the evils of a city or country or a society and hence know your boundaries well and then start the fight.

As far as the conquering is concerned - leave it to the almighty.

ABSOLUTELY! Evil should be resisted and conquered.

But the real question is, WHAT IS EVIL? After all, evil is a subjective term.

To a Christian, evil is anything that goes against the will of god. Personally, I thing the idea of a god is laughable at best. The principals and beliefs of the Judeo-Christian faith are detrimental to human development and should be retired to the annals of mythology along with the ancient Roman and Greek religions. (As should all theistic faiths.)

To modern liberal moralists, evil is anything the interferes with a persons ability to be happy. For these people, it's not the pursuit of happiness that is paramount, its being happy. Thus, the lazy should be given money, the indigent should be granted money collected from those who have worked hard, the criminal should be given second and third chances or more and assisted while they try and rebuild their lives. Those who engage in self destructive behavior should be pitied and helped and those who are injured through their own negligence should be given money by those persons involved in a situation that didn’t get hurt.

To the modern conservative moralists, evil is anything that changes the past conceptions of right or wrong. Progress is okay only AFTER strict testing and debating and then only in small quantities, regardless of the benefits of such change.

To the modern capitalist anything that places individuals above profit is evil.

To the corporate mogul, anything that does not result in long term net profit gains is evil. Personally, my definition of evil if fairly simplistic.

EVIL - Intentional and unrepentant ignorance*, indolence**, gluttony+, bigotry++ and cowardice.# {See notes below}

So, ignorance, indolence, gluttony, bigotry and cowardice should be resisted and defeated at all costs.

I hope this helps.

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
NOTES:
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
* Ignorance: The condition of being uninformed or uneducated. lacking knowledge or information
** Indolence: Habitually lazy, procrastinating, or resistance to physical or mental labor.
+ Gluttony: (archaic definition) Thoughtless and unreasonable excess. (This is not limited to food and drink by could include any substance (drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc...), sex, gambling, etc... even money! [seeking money for the sake of having money or seeking it to the exclusion of all other pursuits would be gluttonous.])
++ Bigotry: Irrational intolerance and/or disdain of others based on racial, ethnical and/or cultural differences.
#Cowardice: Lack of mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty to a reasonable level of commitment.

You should. Regardless of your belief in one, many, or no gods, evil is a human temptation which humans should resist. It can be internal - the temptation to do something you know is wrong. This can only be resisted internally - you need to seek the strength to do what you know is right. Other evil is external - someone or something else doing what you know is wrong. How you resist this will depend on what the evil is and what you can do. In any case, even if you can do nothing actively, acquiescing in evil is wrong.

ignorance is an evil unto itself. for a long time, many of us have placed those restrictions upon our actions and choices we have tucked them in what we think is a safe place away from hurting us and we know where that evil is, creating for us a phobia which encases us in fear because we know it is there. Where do we run? Where are we safe to view it from a distance like the moon maybe. The shadow of someones deeds have crossed land and sea and air. We are all capable of evil, not one of us is pure. not one. yet we as a society have made progress in standards which help us to gain a greater understanding of that nature, evil thoughts conceived in private have been known public for its destruction. this much we know. We still retain choice to do or not to do, to be ok with our independent choice and not be caught up into an evil group, we can still say no when the confrontation comes, we can still back out of evil or we will be destroyed with it, one evil after another will fall like dominoes, in this we will choose to be remembered as either the evil one or the free will one, you decide your path this way.

The powers of evil watch you as a besieging force would watch a guarded city.....the object beingalways to find some weak spot, attack that, and so gain an entrance . So evil lurks around you, & seeks to surprise you in some fear.

The fear may hve been but a small one, but it affords evil a weakspot of attack and entrance, & then in come rushing despondency, and doubt of God and so many other sins............................

Pray for the the PERFECT LOVE of GOD that indeed casts out all fear.................................The casting out of fear of anyone and anything is a result of perfect love in GOD the Father Speak to Go always about everything & listen to him at all times.............and you will be protected always and you will conquer evil..............

Evil is an illusion. It is not real.It can be conquered only by knowledge and nothing else.Evil is caused by ignorance and once this ignorance is removed, evil ceases to appear before us.

Yes ... we must because this is what Shri Krishna told Arjuna to fight the evil and destroy it.

Shri Krishna never advised Arjuna to leave this Maya and be a sanyasi.

If god has put us in a scenario, where resistance/fight is necessary....we must do it... if not we will lose His faith in us

How to conquer ? no need.... even if we are defeated..we win because here fight is important not the results
