If you wondering if someone would choice differently....I guess it depends on how his/her career has progressed. I'm in the Air Force and I've been around the other services. As a younger Airman I wouldn't choice another service other then the Air Force. However, I've seen how the Navy E-7's and above are treated and I'm jealous. The Air Force doesn't come close to that kind of respect. To late for me though, I'll keep trucking along in the Air Force. :)

I'm guessing you're not looking to deploy so much because of your children? If this is the case then maybe the conventional military is not what you want to do; perhaps the Coast Guard? The pay is the same as the regular branches of the military and I believe their longest deployments are two months, depending on the mission.
However if deploying a lot doesn't bother you then I would suggest the Marine Corps, deployments vary on your unit, but since they are about 6 months to a year. The Navy would be good too, but their are not many ships that take on women just yet so deploying would not be such a big deal there for you. I can't speak of the Air force or Army, but I'm sure their deployments are about the same as the Marine Corps's.

I recently retired from the Air Force and enjoyed it very much. If I had it to do over again I think I would have done the same. It seems to me from personal experience and from friends in other branches they seemed to be the most family friendly (I am married with 3 children and was when I joined). I think If I had been single the Navy or marines would have been my 1st choice.

If I were to join a military branch I would join the Marine corps, However everone has thier own liking, if you like being on a ship more then a plane then the navy or if you like to be on the ground more on a ship or plane then I would say the army or the Marines. That is only my opinion, if you are going to join a branch then I would say do your research on all the branchs and decide on which you would like to do.

I've never considered joining the military at all. But my senior year in high school for some reason I changed my mind. Half of my family was supportive and the other half told me to my face that I wasn't going to make it. That was over 8 years ago and I am still a Sergeant in the Army as we speak. I do not regret my decision at all and am glad that I've had the opportunity to join. I was going to join the Navy, but the Army recruiter changed my mind. I dont' regret the decision though.

Proud Army Vet here.... I originally wanted to go into the Air Force when I was in the 7th grade, but somewhere in the 8th I was told I cant fly planes cause I wore glasses.... SO I changed my mind in the 8th grade and decided I wanted to join the Army... I left for basic training 2 weeks after I graduated, and served almost 8 years.

The Army Corps of Engineers it´s a good option for you. You actually can see the result of your job. You will provide support to our troops and also help the civilians.
You also can look forward for Army Chopper pilot. Fliyng helicopters maybe its not as exciting as fliyng jets but it´s quite an experience. Both options can help you later with a good civilian jobs oportunities.
Good luck with your choice.

I would make it the army corp of engineers. Guess what my college degree is in!
PS
To be a navy pilot requires a huge amount of time and effort. More than a mother of 3 could devote. I am afrais the train has left the station for both of us.

My Dad was a pilot who served in the US Air Force for thirty five years. I thoroughly enjoyed the extensive travel and knowledge I gained from my experiences with the Air Force. It was an exciting life!!
