Basically, until people learn to think for themselves and perform meaningful research. Too many christians say they've done research into their beliefs, but what you find is that they only look for verification of what they already believe and they'll hold on to any shred of evidence that can be somewhat interpreted as supporting their beliefs. Prime example: I asked a christian why Jews say that Jesus did not fulfill their Bibles prophecies of what The Messiah would be and do on earth, he responded by saying that God had willfully blinded His chosen people so that they would not know the truth and that Jesus had fulfilled over 300 OT prophecies. Apparently, this person had never once looked at the Hebrew Bible or did research into what Jews believed The Messiah would be and do, because most of the 'prophecies' that he produced through a website were not actually prophecies, but pieces of stories, songs, poems, and proverbs about other people that are easily shown NOT to be prophecy if you simply read the scriptures presented in the manner in which they are written. In addition, his response to why Jesus didn't fulfill the actual prophecies of The Messiah ending all religions, ushering in world peace, and rebuilding the third Temple during his lifetime (Jews have always believed that if these things are not accomplished, or the person is killed, then it is a forgone conclusion that he was NOT The Messiah) he simply told me that all of this was to occur at the second coming. Funny thing is, when I asked him why Jesus told some of his followers that he would return before they tasted death and his disciples finished preaching through Israel almost two thousand years ago he said Jesus DID return as promised to those disciples.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Jesus already returned and these prophecies are still not completed, does that mean that we have to wait for his THIRD coming? No second or third coming was ever predicted in the Hebrew Bible, so it's plain as day that Jesus was NOT the Messiah that the Jews were waiting for. But christians will not admit this, as they believe they have the right answer and all they look for is anything at all that can be even remotely used to support their belief.

That is why even today, almost two thousand years later, you still hear people talking about war and rumors of war (which is not a new phenomena) as a sign of the end times and Jesus' second coming. They're looking for ANYTHING at all that they can interpret as proof of their faulty belief. Until they take an honest look at their belief and learn about what was actually prophesied about The Messiah, they'll continue to hold on to the belief. As you can see, no christian wants to look at Jesus through the eyes of their god's chosen people and the scriptures their god gave his chosen people telling them what the Messiah would be and do.

Thomas Jefferson gave it 20 years but that was 240 years ago and it is still here. People have a deed need for a Divine being which will overrule reason.

Extinct will take ages. But getting it down below the level where it screws up lives all over the world is realisable, I reckon.
