I know exactly what you mean.
The ones that you meet at the bar is somebody else left overs or are labeled as stray dogs and lame cats.
1. Join a library or join a Christian Fellowship.
2. Look around at church and make friends with somebody, very soon that somebody will introduce you to somebody else.
3. Join a hiking club or tennis club
4. Stroll around in the deli and try and make eye contact with the other shoppers (males), a lot of people are actually looking for conversation and walla when you have conversation, that could be a start.

You need to find some quality dating sites. There are so many dating sites these days and not all of them are good. From experience you should goto HubTalk.com as they list top quality dating and singles sites. Some a free and some are paid. There are also dating sites for specific groups listed like Christians etc.

Men are everywhere but just because they're out there doesn't mean they're looking to get "met" by desperate women. If you don't know how or where to look, I think you're the one with the problem. Chances are you're missing out on nice guys finding you because of your narrow views. Open your eyes and your mind. Do things that appeal to guys instead of thinking that they are just like loaves of bread at the market. Stand out and be different and exciting to be around. If you're worth of being attractive to nice guys, they'll come around.

I never wanted to be anyone's "bar pickup" either.
I met my bf at the race track. So sporting events are a good place. Also try the Library, the Supermarket, nature trails, church, etc...
