You'll have to format the drive then install 98.

You do know Microsoft quit supporting Win98 last year right? That means no Windows Updates, support etc. Your opening your machine up to all kinds of problems by reverting to 98. If you want to downgrade, go with Win2000.

Hi,

Windows XP's framework is very different then that of WIndows 98. There is no way to 'downgrade' without fromatting. Only solution is to format your system and install Windows98.

May I ask why you want to return to 98? XP is great, unless your computer does not meet minimum requirements. I will include minimum requirements and the WindowsXP advisor. You should run the Advisor to see if your computer can tolerate XP.

Windows XP Upgrade Advisor
Check your hard drive to see if it will tolerate WinXP
If your current version of Windows is eligible for upgrade to Windows XP, you can use Upgrade Advisor to make sure your hardware and software are compatible with Windows XP.
Note You may use Upgrade Advisor to check for upgrade eligibility and compatibility information for Windows XP Home Edition with the following exception: It is not possible to upgrade from Windows NT® 4.0 or Windows 2000 Professional to Windows XP Home Edition
