How can I really know who Jesus is?

This question comes from someone who was born and raised Protestant but always questioned the teaching of salvation through faith alone. This has never really made much sense to me because what does it really prove about a man if he does believe that Jesus is divine? Many Christians accept this teaching through faith alone and don't really bother to think about it much for the rest of their lives. Somehow, they are saved due to what may be their own intelectual laziness and now I may be damned because I am now questioning this.
My question for the religious is how can I find out who Jesus really is when you can find scholars who give copious evidence to prove that He is both Divine and the opposite. I don't believe in "following my heart" because I am an emotional being and I can easily be misled by my heart. I can pray and I do, but how do I really know when I know???

how can i hope to find the answer to a history question in a maths textbook??

the Bible tells you exactly the loving Nature of God, Jesus Himself. Some great things about Him are Him teaching us to love our enemies, to honour our parents, to love our neighbours, to give to the poor, to proclaim righteousness, truth and salvation.

The Bible also tells us that Jesus was beaten, shamed, and when hanging on theat Cross, prayed to the Father to ask Him to forgive us.

Jesus is good. and He will always be.

we can always question, but we will always end up with a question, question after question. so then when do we stop questioning?

we must know when to question, and when to stop questioning, to remain focussed in our destiny.

so what if i show you a history book about Jesus? will you believe me? you can still question my credibilty, right? so would you be happy if i show you a book that is contrary to what The Bible says who Jesus is?

what do you want to hear? and what do you gain from what you hear?

we live not by sight alone, but by faith too.
scientists need faith to believe life came by chance.
drivers need faith in the traffic lights, that they will not turn green suddenly at the junction.
human beings have faith and do not question the rising of the sun each day.
we trust in our parents with faith too.

there are times we don't have to question. :)

The ecumenical councils, which the churches of the Reformation as well as the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches all recognize, proclaimed Jesus to have been both fully human and fully divine.

And God won't "damn" anybody for taking their faith seriously, which is what you are doing by questioning and trying to understand it more deeply.

Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic, or never existed at all. The religion doesn't make much sense to you because it is all nonsense, just like greek mythology and islam. It is good that you are questioning these things, it shows that you are intelligent and open-minded.

Other than that, you don't have a lot of options, considering the man never put pen to parchment himself. All you have to go on right now is hearsay and third-hand accounts from people who never even met the man.

Prayerfully read and meditate upon the gospels- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. No speed reading- take small bites and digest.

Ask Jesus to come in to your heart, and then seek Him. Ask Him to reveal himself to you, and He will. Get to know Him by studying Him in the Bible. If you do this you will have that relationship, and not doubt.
