I'm quoting from a webpage I found:
"One of the most popular false gods of the world is Santa Claus. Children around the world worship Santa Claus. Do you know what the word "worship" means? It simply means: "The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object." Hence, many parents are indeed teaching their children to worship Santa. Children's minds are consumed with this fictitious fat slob dressed in red. Children should not be led to believe in a fictitious character who can read people's minds, is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. To deliver presents to every child in one night is something ONLY an omnipotent God could do. Don't you see what the Devil is doing to little children? As the child grows older and realizes that there is NO Santa, he is already CONDITIONED to become an atheist as well. "

well, there is a grain of truth in that I think, under the judging mumbo-jumbo. Santa and the Easter bunny are stories that their parents tell them, and they're not true. Generally children find out that the stories are not true from somebody else than their parents. And when they confront their parents with that theory they'll say that indeed you're right and what we said was wrong. This is a tremendous learning process: what anyone tells you, even your parents, might be false! And if you disagree with what they told you they'll still love you anyway.

Apart from that, Santa is acting like a dick, he should give toys to everyone who's nice and not just to his personal clique... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40qTXlNJj9s

The Ho-man in our home is a fairytale just like Frosty the Snowman......... My child was raised to enjoy all aspects of Christmas- but knows the true meaning- My child also knew that it was mom buying the gifts... Not Santa- however she still enjoyed all the typical childhood videos that I enjoyed as a kid-- When it comes to kids & presents- they could care less about where they come from--- so it is no big deal about whether you let them believe in Santa or not- is the myth evil?? I guess it could cause problems if you dwell on it to much... but I really can't see that.. Most little children are scared to death to sit on Santa's lap for the pictures... and when they are finally brave enough- they are already doubting & questioning... As for the piece you included-- We are Christians & the myth of Santa has not changed our belief in God at all-- it is all in how it is presented.

lol methinks someone didn't get the Red Ranger BB Gun with handgrip and shoulder strap for Christmas.

That's just silly. We don't worship Santa Claus, he's just a figure that's part of the whole season. He represents love and charity, which are the teachings of Jesus. In fact, if your kid asks you why Santa does what he does, your answer will invariably involve Jesus.

Even my little 5 year old knows deep down inside there is no Santa, he's just a myth like the Disney princesses. But she enjoys the benefits of Santa just the same :)

Santa is a Pagan and so are his elves. The Church incorporated Santa into Christmas to help all the Pagans convert with ease. And it worked. He is not evil, just merely a symbol of fun at a time of solstice. In other Christian countries they have similar Christmas tales. Like in Italy there's a little woman that leaves chocolate in your shoes on Christmas eve. Santa is not evil. Hallmark is evil.

Well, first off; I'm an agnostic, so from a religious perspective I can't answer that question. However, putting myself in a Christian's shoes I would say yes, because indeed children do worship Santa, and he is not a proper Christian symbol (he was a cultural one, and is now a commercial one - Coca Cola defined the colour of his suit, for crying out loud). But having said that... Putting myself in a Christian's shoes I would say Christmas is evil because it is a Pagan holiday, not a Christian one. The only thing that makes it a Christian holiday is that some Roman emperor said it was in an attempt to convert all the Pagans.

So... In answer to your question... Yes, but it's a trivial question when you look at the bigger picture of Christmas. ;-)

In order for him to be evil, he must be real, so technically no. But, the whole santa thing has always made me feel icky. We did all that with our kids, but it always gnawed at me. I never liked lying to my kids about anything (if they aren't going to get the truth from me, who are they going to get it from).

I did read several years ago, that when surveyed, teens said the number one reason they don't trust their parents is because they lied to them about Santa!!!! I was shocked!!!!

I have never thought about this whole satanic connection, but to me the obvious point that the author does not make is the fact that Santa's coming definitely distracts kids from what we're supposed to be celebrating anyway, which is Christ's coming.

Heresy I know, but sorry folks, Christmas is a pagan holiday anyway. We should really think about our celebration of it, how we do it, how we maintain the proper focus for our kids, etc.

The real santa was a priest i believe who tried to give poor children gifts. That in an of itself isn't bad. But yes satan has made sanat into something to compete with God. Also christmas is a pagan holiday anyway and it isnt even when jesus was born. jesus doesnt even want us to celebrate christmas. He''d rather we save our money then spend it on useless junk every year that we quickly forget about.

That may just be the most ridiculous thing anyone's posted to the web yet.
Of course, the competition for most ridiculous web page is pretty fierce.
As I've so often said, any idiot can put up a web-page...and lots of them do.
Pffft, the guy is just pissed cuz he didn't get the present he wanted for Christmas. Pay him no mind, Hun.

Santa is not evil, just imaginary, and most kids aren't that traumatized from finding out that he's not real. I suspected it from the time I was eight, but didn't tell my parents for two years after because I didn't want to hurt their feelings.
