Good question.
I think there will be a new American race, but not a single American race.
Most white people are now multi-ethnic. There are very few people in the United States who can trace there ancestors back to just one single country in Europe.
Many black people have a small percentage of white blood because some slave owners had "relations" with there slaves producing mulatto children.
I believe what we will see in America is an ever growing mulatto group. These "new" Americans will continue grow and will probably start marrying each other as opposed to other white, black, Asian, etc. people.
In other words, there will be a new American race, but not a single American race.

It's already happening, unfortunately. I like the cultural diversity myself. But it appears that interracial marriage's are wiping out minority traits. Take a look at any White/Black (or Black/White) marriage and tell me that the kids look mostly like the black parent. I think not. Primarily black features are being assimilated (read this as "going away"). In a few more generations there may no longer be blacks that aren't recent immigrants. It may well happen to Hispanics too.

The Polynesians are a combination of races, but that doesn't mean other "races" don't live in Hawaii. So maybe a better question would be will there someday be a race named for people who have multi-ethnic backgrounds. Don't confuse race with country. Mixed races are worldwide.

Why would they? Have they anywhere else? I do think that we are more liberal in our actions toward interracial marriages but I doubt seriously if one race evolves from all of the races in our nation. I don't necessarily believe that love comes in color, love the person for who they are not what color they are. I'm not trying to say that mixed race couples are the way to go but if you love someone, don't be afraid to because of their race.

NO, because there is too much money and power to be had in keeping the races at eachother's throats. Peckerwoods in the KKK, or the Al Sharptons and Jessie Jacksons of the world get their power from racial divide. They won't allow people to look beyond color, because it is bad for them. Better to keep things stirred up

we already are. people like to think that they are "pure" this and 100% that, but I assure you, most Americans are blended in some form or fashion.
Look at Charlie and Martin Sheen, both men are born hispanic and are now "white" in the eyes of society.
I think it's very sad that people feel they must assimilate to "whiteness" in order to be normal or acceptable.
I also happen to think people of blended races are usually more attractive.
Sadly, America will probably always be divided, but race will play little role in the future; it will be moreso based on economics and sociological differences (where you live, how much you make).
p.s.
Linda Carter (wonder woman) and Victoria Principal (Pamela Ewing) were also born hispanic and are now "white" in the eyes of society. Also, look at Jessica Alba, Hollywood makes her "whiter" with every movie.

the races might the cultures won't. america is more bigoted than ever just that race is no longer an issue doesn't mean sh!t, theres groups within races, social casts, steriotypes who are being the persecuted instead. Its a trade-off nothing has gotten better.

I doubt that an "American" race will ever come to pass. Too many people have issues with losing their heritage, and frankly, that's a good thing. America has always been about assimilation and a blending of cultures.
I like it the way it is.

no person race/lifestyle reasons the main crime. we are all people inspite of each little thing. the individuals who reason the main crime are the ignorant, racist, egocentric and silly. regrettably its in mankind's nature to be all of those issues.
