ask an attorney, if you can't afford one go to legal aid of your state and get one...sounds like you're getting ripped off or else you haven't told the whole story

You defaulted on a loan? and want to keep the car? Either pay it off get title or give it back pay late fees. You just don't own it yet. Yes legal action will be aginst you for not paying. Pull out your paper work. I bet no payment late fee is % of total loan and added each month. You could owe more in late fees than you would have paid for the car.

if the title is not in your name you don't own it can't insure or register it the best thing you could do is take it back to the dealer and say here you go ....you have no legal right to the car.. the only out u might have is if you know someone who owns a garage or tow service they can file a mechanics lien or storage lien and get a title through the dmv then you could tag it... good luck..

If you're saying what I think you're saying.....If you don't have any documentation saying that you own the car then I don't think you can register it. Have you talked to the car company? If you pay the balance of what you owe them will they give you the ownership?
