People with personality disorders typically have poor insight into their problems.

In my own experience, personality disorders are a very subjective thing and people often get different diagnoses when they go to different doctors. The two personality disorders that are most likely to "stick" are Borderline and Antisocial. This is based on personal observation of patients admitted to the agencies I worked for.

Also, people are not likely to be sent for treatment based on a personality disorder alone, it's more likely they will present for treatment for depression, anxiety, etc,, that may or may not be related to the personality disorder itself.

People have a much easier time looking at others flaws. Even when faced with their own. They have to open their eyes and take a long look at themselves. Which most often, requires the desire for change. You could try tape recording them. Then playing it back to them. However, they may be to overcome with the fact this was done, to see the real problem.

A very good tool would be journaling. Write down everything anytime you feel it. No lists or organizations required. Heck, draw pics if you have to. When you are ready to talk to someone (doctor, etc), take it with you.

Good luck and take care of you!

if someone has a problem and want help they will ask, if it is not putting them or anyone else in some serious danger than mind your own business
