References quick!?

Question

For a class I need to write a [fake] letter asking somebody if they could give me some references for a job. What do you think are things I should add in this letter? Like real experience I have that might make it seem I was qualified for the fake job I had and how I helped the fake boss I'm asking for references from? How would you write it?
