Hendrick won 9 of 10 and 10 of 12 races, but have not won a race in the last 5 and none since 2 of the Hendrick teams were found to have made an illegal alteration. I wonder if they were cheating until they got caught or if the other teams like Gibbs and Roush have all of a sudden passed Hendrick as the premier teams

I am not saying that HMS was cheating all along. I'm sure other fans have noticed that the HMS cars have not won in 5 races when they dominated earlier and they did find some things at Sonoma on the 24 and 48 that would have made them faster. When one team wins 9 of 10 races, I can't help but notice. For the record, I think Jeff Gordon is one of the best drivers EVER in NASCAR, not just this year. I also do not believe the drivers knew about the modifications in the cars.

It's not cheating if it's not illegal. NASCAR says here's the COT and here's what you CAN'T do to it. The crew chiefs get creative, as they always have, and NASCAR drops the hammer on some things and not on others. It's trial and error -- what can I get away with without getting whacked. I'm no fan of HMS but the fact is that Hendrick took the COT seriously while the other teams didn't and that gave them a big edge, look at the #'s they won like 5 of of the first six COT races or something.
#99 Edwards fan but Roush and the others let HMS outrun them by thinking the COT was a flash in the pan. But now the others have caught up and we're getting some great racing. I still prefer the old way when you can buy on Mon. what they race on Sun.
It's not cheating till it's covered in the rule book and the COT book is a bunch of empty pages

Roush if finally catching up to where Hendrick Motorsports is. The are still behind the research with the COT cars but they have put the info they have accumulated to good use.
Not sure about Gibbs team... they still seem to be struggling.

I think, as expected, the other teams are catching up, particularly on the COT where Hendrick had a big head start due to great planning.
Roush-Fenway, DEI, and Gibbs are all getting better now. Hendrick still rules though. Just a mini-slump right now. Can only be 2,3,and 4th all the time.

I think they are just catching up. Gibbs for one tho has been the 2nd best I think between Tony and Denny leading the most laps (Tony over all) (Denny most laps COT) until some type of issues happen, if those issues didn't happen, Gibbs probably would of looked better than Hendrick is now. But you question does bring up a good point, one I have thought of at least once.

I think that all the other teams have figured it out, Gibbs have gotten better and Roush is getting better, especially with the COT races, DEI has been getting better, Gibbs have improved big time, even Giassi have stepped up a little bit.

The reason hendrick had won 10 of 12 races is that they tested alot at alot of the tracks that they won at

Yes and no.Some teams have made some improvements that has allowed them to start being somewhat compeditive with Hendricks.As for the allegations of cheating I am not in a position to talk about that now.

really when they catch up with gordons point lead he has been increasing his lead every week since nascar stole 100 points from him and yes jimmy johnson had a bad wek last week but he was dominating the race till he blew a tire and casey got another top 5 last week
and that other guy almost won at daytona 2 weeks ago
its only been 5 races since gordon won at pocono and no matter how great hms is they cant win them all but they can keep getting top 5;s and top 10's

I dont think it has anyhting to do with cheating or who is the premier team. The other teams are just becoming comfortable with the COT now. It was bound to happen and should make for better COT races.

Did anyone really think that this was going to go on all season? There are more than four teams racing out there! I think the Gibbs organization is finally getting the finishes that they should have all along. Maybe Jr. will change his mind!!!! LOL, one can hope ya know!!!!
