Come on people, there are things that happen around us all the time that let us know that there is more there than meets the eye.

Anyone ever 'sensed' something that they couldn't quite put into words? Or can't explain the scent of a past family member coming to you around their anniversary, or a mystical experience or vision of Christ or messages from Angels.

All these things are completely natural and non-religious. So please, those with sarcy comments, keep them to yourselves.

If we do not nurture and encourage our own personal spiritual development, it is only ourselves that are to blame for the neglect.

No matter how many barriers we make within ourselves, it is never too late to bring them back down again, so that the spirit can be recognised and acknowledged and respected.

Spirit is all around us, if only we could turn and see...

If only we treat each other the way we would like to be treated. Jesus said "The New Covenant is: Love your brother as yourself".

I too have considered this question, I have researched it extensively also. I promise you, it is better to be told that we are here 'by accident' than to consider any of the alternatives. For example; we were created and put here. We are a food supply (there are over 100,000 people disappear each year who are never seen or heard from again). We are a slave race designed and created to perform a task, eg collect all this planet's gold. The 'gold standard' is the foundation of the capitalist system. We are all experimental subjects, simply being observed. The alternatives are very scary. Religion is a good thing, but it is only being used to divide the world's population.

There are many religions, and they all claim to be the only true faith; this simply cannot be correct. Christianity is not the largest religion!

It is far easier to have the masses believe that we are here 'by accident' than to have them consider any of the far more likely possibilities. I have also concluded that the human race simply wouldn't have evolved at the speed that it 'theoretically' did.

I've said it before and I'll say it again "of what we cannot speak, thereof we must be silent." If Jesus tried to speak of that it is plain to see how miserably he failed: people inscribe his words in stone, instead of taking them as a stepping-stone towards the unnamable. In fact they worship his name itself, which is bizarre if he really was talking about the unnamable. Jesus may have had the same kind of wisdom Buddha had, but he did not exactly get his message across in that case. I grant that there are many Buddhists that worship Buddha the way Christians worship Jesus, but there are also many who do not.

by the way, Wittgenstein is cumbersome in English. "wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen" is so much more elegant. I hope a better translation is possible.

I've never denied any universal connection between all living things. I very much believe in it. Watch a school of fish or a large flock of birds and the way they seem to move as one though made up of hundreds or thousands. There's a connection there. But that doesn't mean Jesus is responsible for that. It's nature.

This is the problem with humans.. always wanting to know answers.. even tho this is yahoo "answers" havnt you ever heard of ' curiousity killed the cat'? well im applying that here.. personally ignorance is bliss.. and maybe you should except that. You could easily drive yourself to the brink of insanity with questions like this, and even if there was an answer are you sure that you could comprehend it let alone bring you happiness. Just give it up.. theres no point!

well i believe there is a universal human nature, at least approximately. but where does it come from? words color the argument: 'spirit' is truly a useless word. everyone knows what it means to them but no one agrees with anyone else. however one thing you said that resonates with me was this: 'If only we treat each other the way we would like to be treated'. i don't care particularly that jesus said it - many others have said it too. can't hurt to repeat it though i suppose.

No, sorry. Reality, The observable, verifiable universe is enough for me. Coming up with woolly pap like 'sensed' 'spirit' 'Angels' doesn't actually make a meaningful argument.

When you live in a beautiful garden, why can't you just accept that it's beautiful without insisting there are fairies at the bottom?

The fact that even now, two thousand years after Christ's death, Christians are still treated like nuts - is the ultimate proof that He truly is the Messiah.

Expect it to get worse son. Just keep the faith.

God Bless.
