catholicism is more like a bankrupted religion in the moral sense as there are so many paedophile catholic priests causing untold damages to young kids and in the financial sense that Boston catholic church and LA Catholic church now have to pay out hugh sum to hush hush victims of sexual abuses not to involve the police and courts in settling these ugly fiascos.

I'm glad you posted this question! Catholicism is the biggest best kept brain washing secret the world has ever known! The Mafia was born out of Catholicism! All of crime, greed, and power is born out of Catholicism. Why any woman would want to belong to a cult that HATES women just blows my mind!

Catholicism has NOTHING to do with a love for GOD! I could go on but I just can't!

Before you ask such a question, you may want to research how many Catholics the Nazis killed during the Holocaust to avoid looking like an idiot. Also, although Hitler was born to Catholic parents, he rejected Catholicism as soon as he moved out of the house and never attended mass or partook of the sacraments.
As for Himmler, he was also born into a Catholic family and claimed to be a devout Catholic. However, he was a member of a fraternity which he felt to be at odds with the tenets of the church: biographers have defined Himmler's theology as Ariosophy, his own religious dogma of racial superiority of the Aryan race and Germanic Meso-Paganism, partly from his interests in folklore and mythology of the ancient Teutonic tribes of Northern Europe.

Automatic excommunication happens when Catholics commit certain offensives. This happens as soon as the offense is committed.

Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler committed the following offenses resulting in automatic excommunication:
- Apostasy - the formal renunciation of one's religion. Hitler specifically rejected the Catholic Church, as well as Christianity in general. He described himself as "a complete pagan.”
- Heresy - a doctrine in theology, religion, philosophy, or politics at variance with those of the Catholic Church. Nazism is definitely heretical to Christianity.

There was no reason for the Catholic Church to excommunicate Hitler. He did it all by himself.

For Hitler's own words against Christianity, see: http://www.geocities.com/chiniquy/Hitler.html

For more information about excommunication, see: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/05678a.htm

Who is Bernard Manning?

With love in Christ.

They may have come from families who were catholic, or more likely, in Germany, Lutheran. However, Naziism became their religion. Once in power, they discouraged all other religions in Germany wanting all germans to 'worship' the myth of 'Aryan' lore.

Hitler was also a non-smoker, a vegetarian and a painter. None of these other labels, catholic, or artist detract from the fact that he was a true monster of pure evil. It simply serves to underscore the chilling fact that he was a mere human - capable of so much evil.

Funny Fact: Hitler only had one testicle.

P.S. I'm wondering why you asked such a goofy question. No offense, but what's your point?

Catholicism has nothing to do with the fact that each of those men turned out to be hateful racists. If I took instruction in the Roman Catholic Church, and felt it was the correct path for me, I wouldn't let the fact of them having been Catholic affect me in any way.

Hateful racists come in all varieties, colors, ethnic backgrounds, and faiths. It's the hatred which makes them unappealing people, not the type of church where they happen to have been baptized.

(And in Manning's defense, racism has always been a hot topic for comedians--it works for them exactly because it is such a loaded subject.)

You can't be a devout Catholic and a racist. The two are 100% incompatible. It's like saying you're a Christian but vote Tory. Impossible to follow Christ's teachings yet be right wing.

While I am a staunch anti Catholic (having been one) I don't think
Hitler was a devout Catholic. The Nazi Hierarchy was like me very anti Catholic. I am not a Nazi, but am still anti Catholic. It is
(like the Nazis) very right wing at the top.

Not Hitler, that toothbrush mustache would look stupid on me.
Not Himmler, I can't stand those sort of eyeglasses.
Not Manning - I mean, I am struggling with my dieting and getting some success, so why would I want to be like that grossly overweight guy?

Oh and another reason I don't want to be like any of them - they're dead.

But I wouldn't become a Catholic anyway, even though there are many good Catholics just as there are George W, Bush's and Tony Blairs who are born again Christians.

some people are nasty no matter what their religion.
