Ok I'm black, but I think I'd love Ireland! I really love the green landscape. I wonder if it's possible to become an Irish Citizen while keeping my American citizenship. I'm considering the possiblity of living in Ireland. I had heard that if one has an Irish background they can become a citizen. I don't know if I could prove it, but supposed there is some Irish in my family tree, probably from some slave owner raping a slave. But anyway. If anyone knows about citizenship, please answer

Oh my word, lol. I was not trying to make it about slavery or the race card. I'm just saying what I know in my family. I'm sure many Irish married blacks as well. Also there were blacks who had black slaves. But anyway my point was really that I probably have some irish in my background that would be difficult to claim . I heard if someone can show irish bloodline they can be a citizen, but it seems like it has to be more immediate.

First, any citizenship has nothing to do with race,
It's a national & political issue of the republic of Ireland and getting a citizenship of any country depends on the political rules of those countries
for granting their nationality to a foreign born
citizen ,then you must be qualified if you was born
to one parent of an Irish citizen, other than that depends on their political system.
I hope this information will help you.
Good luck

You need to have at least one grandparent who was Irish (i.e. an Irish citizen). You might be able to become a citizen through naturalisation. See http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/moving-country/irish-citizenship
Being black has nothing to do with it

Hey you, who says that all white slave owners, raped the slaves ? Get the hell outta here with that one, many whites intermarried with their Black "Slave" Girlfriends and had "mullatto" childen even when it was frowned upon and not "acceptable" and it was not just Irish, the Scots did it, so did Australians, Portuguese as well. If you can prove your "Irish ancestry" then why not give it a go. just drop the rape charges! okay ?

You got of to a good start. Indirectly accusing a God fearing Catholic of Raping your great, great, granny. You have to be 3rd generation Irish to be accorded citizenship. Apart from the remote possibility, of having an Irish rapist in your family tree you will just have to follow procedure. Dont mention anything about your Granny. Slan............agus beannact..
