Look around you. The height of all the tables and chairs, especially in schools, somehow seems to be about the same./ are similar. Why do you think this is so?

They are designed for the average height of humans.

For elementary school furniture, there is a standard/average height for 1st graders, 2nd graders, etc. For high school kids there is a standard/average height. For adults there is a standard/average height across the population.

Over the years, as average heights change, so does the manufacture of tables and chairs.

You can also buy 'adjustable' tables and chairs. I sit in a 'ergonomic' chair that has adjustable height.
