I like it even though its ugly. Its safer and the little problems they had in the 1st few races (burning foam, always tight, etc) seem to have been corrected. The racing has been good with it so far. We will see if that continues once its on a bigger track though. When they use it full time it will be cheaper because one car can be run at any track instead of a different car for every track. Its harder to drive so we will see who the good drivers really are.

Why do people act like all the sudden the cars aren't stock? They haven't been close to stock for several decades. People threw a fit when they started using the current car too. Its just new and takes some time to learn how it reacts compared to the old one. After a race or 2 at every track they will all have it figured out and its going to be no big deal just like the current one is.

The COT is not like IROC either. IROC cars are 100% identical. Same people build all the cars, engines, tuning, and setup the car. Sure the COT bodies are now the same but the manufacturer designs the engines and the teams do the tuning, building, and setups. There are still a lot of areas that teams have control over.

Ever since they stopped having the car actually look like the real road car they sport started down a slipperly slope of stupidity.

Now with the COT they have hit the bottom of the muddy ditch. Yes the car is safer, but without danger who cares about the race. Yes the car equalizes one big factor between teams, but so what no longer is there any desire for a Ford or Chevy to build a road car that could actually translate into a winning car body in stock car racing, now they just apply their decals and boom the COT is a Ford or boom the COT is a Chevy or boom the COT is a Toyota.

I'm sorry but that is simply stupidity beyond all believe.

Sure it saves the teams money and makes the sport cheaper but if that was the goal just put the drivers in pedal cars and let them pedal around the tracks that would save money too.

The next step will be a new COT engine.

The only thing the COT has actually done that is somewhat nice is to show the hack drivers that were able to win because of their superior car as washed up has been drivers that don't deserve a race seat.

Having been a NASCAR fan for over twenty years, I know that whether the fans like it or not--it is here to stay. NASCAR says so.

I remember the last body change people had a fit. People are now complaining about the COT.

I know that it keeps the driver safer, but IMHO the driver knows the chances he takes when he gets under the wheel. Part of the allure of NASCAR is the danger. I don't believe anybody wants someone hurt, but it is so exciting knowing that it might happen.

Part of the COT thing is $$$$ When a NASCAR is wrecked nowadays it costs a fortune to repair it. Money rules the world.

I like good racing and the COT has had some spectacular finishes.
That said I don't like it -- there is absolutely no originality or personality to the cars. I know it's safer, more cost effective, etc, but beside the emblem on the front you can't tell if it's a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, or Toyota.
What I would love to see would be the manufactures come out with new line racing lines, allow the crew chiefs to modify them slightly and run 'em. After they race it on Sun. you can buy it on Mon.

No i dont like it. It might be safer and less expensive but it just one more way to make Nascar a homogonenized watered down sport. With the even playing field of the COT and freezing the field on caution, as well as the top 35 rule Nascar is becoming far less exciting.

Actually yes I do like the COT. It's had some really good finishes and I like the drivers having a challenge. Not that they need more of a challenge, but it adds another realm to the sport. Blah blah blah about the looks. You can't fight it and you don't have to accept it, but I've welcomed the new look and hey it's better than them going on strike! In a couple years it's not going to matter to most people. Ya it might look funny to some but I have enjoyed it! I look forward to all the COT races! I really want the field to be evened out! Not sure if that is realistic but it would be nice to know that even the little guys have a chance!!!

Honestly no. Yeah its safer and will protect the driver better but it just takes all the fun out of racing. They've got so many guidelines for it that it seems like if you even adjust the rear view mirror than you get punished severely and labeled a "cheater". It was built to be taller and wider to slow it down... wheres the fun in that? On top of that... I think its the ugliest car I've ever seen in my life. The only cool looking thing about it is the new design for the front bumper with the skid plate... thats pretty cool. Other than that the new rear spoilers just totally kill the look of the car for me. They look like something straight out of fast and the furious... like they pulled it off of some tricked out Honda street racer. Thats just my opinion though.

we have no choice it will have to do until the car of tomorrow comes along ! most likely in the year 2020! if this car is not up to par they will figure a way to make it worse

I think it will make the racing more competitive and give some of the smaller teams a better opportunity to win once in a while. I think the biggest and best thing about it is that it puts more importance on the driver's skill than the old "I must be aerodynamically perfect" car.

Hey, they could be racing MiniCoopers and I would still watch.

I don't, it's just one step closer to IROC. In 2 years you will see a NA$CAR racing car. Not Chevy, Ford, or Dodge. That way NA$CAR won't have to pay an automaker any money on fan apparel sold.
