baptised?
I am 18, far above the age of accountability, I know I should be baptised. I have heard the gospel, I believe in Jesus, and I believe in God....
Is it safer just to not be baptised? Will I go to purgatory since I am not baptised or will I go straight to Hell?
Anyway, I guess I'll be baptised one day, when I find someone who has the grace of God to baptise me....
Wait...could I just baptise myself? Paul let some girl do it, if a girl can baptise herself, why can't I?

Cheir, it's not that I am ashamed, or afraid to make a public declaration...just ask my friends, I make my beliefs public even if they're not wanted lol! But I do believe that my relationship with Jesus doesn't have to be shouted out infront of the world for it to be true.

Most denomonations believe that it's not the baptism that saves you, it's the profession you make before you're baptized, but I don't want to get into legalism.
You say you believe in Jesus. Good. That's a start. Do you believe He died on the cross for your sins? Have you asked Him to forgive you of your sins? That's what's mostly important. Baptism is mostly a symbol. After you've prayed that prayer, you're a new in Christ. When you are lowered into the water, it's a symbol of dying to your old self and your sinful nature (or also, Jesus dying). When you are raised out of the water, you are symbolizing you're a new person in Christ (or also Christ rising from the dead).
Have you invited Christ into your life to be your Savior? That's what will keep you from hell - the Savior.

Water baptism is an act of obedience for all who believe. However salvation is not dependent on it.
It is baptism by the Holy Spirit that saves not water baptism.
1 Peter3:20 [T]he patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.
21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
___________
The Bible says nothing about purgatory. It does not exist. When Jesus paid the penalty for our sins on the cross, just before He died He said, "It if finished." All the work to make us right with God was accomplished on the cross. We can add nothing to it. We don't have to work off anything in purgatory first before going to heaven. And it would be an insult to Him to try.
__________
There is nothing in scripture about Paul letting a girl baptise people.

There is nothing in Scripture that says you will go to hell if you are not baptised. Baptism is a PUBLIC declaration that you have become a Christian. Have you a problem with making such a public declaration? Find the thought embarrassing - not quite sure you are a Christian - have doubts. Clear up all this first, then get baptised.

Its up to you. If you truly Believe, then live your life like you should. You could get baptised though. Why would you not want to be if you believe? You ask if it is safer to not be baptised, which is kind of confusing to me.
Basically, my belief is to do good here on Earth, live my life in a way God wants me to, do unto others etc. And that is what I preach.

Baptism is a rite of initiation into a church, a washing away of past sins as you are born anew into your life as a Christian, and also a personal death to who you were before. It's awesome.
If you feel as though you would like to dedicate your life to Christ, I do recommend being baptized. It is a serious undertaking to be carefully thought through, of course, and depending on the denomination that resonates with you the process for entering that church could be immediate or take more time. Usually it takes longer if the church's formation program is thoroughly developed, which in the end is a good thing and helps prepare you for your life as a Christian.

Not baptism, but people will be lost because they did not accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.
When Jesus said to the man on the Cross, "This day thou shalt be with me in paradise," did he get off the cross to baptize the man then jump back on?
There are a lot of hell bent folk who get baptized every Sunday, are they saved? They are deceived in thinking their sins are forgiven. Jesus and Jesus alone forgives sin, not water, The Catholics, The Baptists, nor the pope.
It is good to get baptized AFTERWARD you asked Jesus to come into yourelife, otherwise the baptism is useless.
Baptism is all about Jesus; it symbolizes dying to the world and rising in Christ.

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
The subject of water baptism has long been called a great issue and no doubt has been made such by many church leaders of the past and present. In our study of it, let us first consider its importance, or the necessity of being baptized.
The Importance of Water Baptism
Christian water baptism is an ordinance instituted by Jesus Christ. If it is not important in the plan of God, why did Jesus command it in Matthew 28:19? And why did Peter follow up by saying, "Be baptized every one of you," and by commanding the Gentiles to be baptized (Acts 2:38; 10:48)? We must remember two points about the importance of water baptism. First, whatever Christ definitely established and ordained cannot be unimportant, whether we understand its significance or not. Second, Christ and the apostles showed the importance of this ordinance by observing it. Jesus walked many miles to be baptized, though He was without sin, saying, "For thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness" (See Matthew 3:13-16.)
It is true that water itself does not contain any saving virtue, but God has chosen to include it in His plan of salvation. Peter explained, "Baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (I Peter 3:21). According to Luke 7:30, "the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized."

There is no such thing as purgatory. Surely if you are not save then you go to hell.
There are two requisite of salvation as Jesus said in
Mark 16:15-16:
15He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
You must believe and be baptized to be save.
You can not baptized your self. Jesus did not baptised himslef but he go to John the Baptist for baptism. This is recorded in Mathew 3:13-17.
The Baptism of Jesus
13Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?"
15Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented.
16As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."
Do not wait for another day, you may never know what lies ahead for tomorrow. As the Bible said;
Acts 22:16
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.'

No! And as long as you can get baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, yes anyone including yourself can baptize you. It is just a symbol of accepting Jesus. IT DOES NOT SAVE YOU. He does. Only God knows who's going to spend eternity in Heaven or Hell. Our hope is in Jesus Christ, Son of God, Our Savior. Peace.

No. You are saved. But get baptized. Jesus Himself got baptized and He is the perfect example.
Any man of God can baptize you, even your parents or a friend who follow God. Have it done at the church where they perform adult baptism.
