We have adopted one child and would like to have a brother or sister for our son. We can't have children of our own, but are great parents. Agencies charge tens of thousands of dollars - which we don't have. We live a comfortable lifestyle and can definitely financially afford more children - just not the tens of thousands an agency charges. Our son is almost 2 yrs old and we'd love for our kids to be close in age. Going through the ministry could take years, and there is no guarantee an agency would be any faster. Any suggestions on how to go about this privately?

have you been to the topic on Yahoo Answers under Pregnancy and Parenting and under that is Adoption?
I would put an ad in every possible newspaper.
I would search for an attorney who may specialize in this.
Have your friends and aquaintences keep their ears open for possibilities.
Have you considered foster parenting, many adopt this way but rarely a little baby?

I hope you aren't thinking about doing anything illegal. It sounds like you're not in teh United States, so I don't know how it works where you are, but you can get trained to be a foster parent fairly quickly (about 6 months) and after you're certified, getting a foster child is comparatively quick. After you've been a foster parent for a little while, you can go through the adoption process. I'm not sure if it costs less. If you want your kids to be closer in age, you could consider being a foster parent to child that's older. Say, 2 years old when your son is 3. (Then you get to skip the diaper part, too.)
