Why can't Jews or Muslims eat pork, but Christians can? Doesn't seem right one of the 4(including Buddhism) can eat pork but the others are forbidden...
Also, do buddhists eat pork?

Thanks for the answers so far(espcially about the buddhist being vegetarians...the one I know is but I never connected it to his faith like that)
Also, there isn't a scripture that has Jesus saying that eating pork is A OK? Someone told me that, I couldn't find it, so I was hoping someone else would've known.
And to the first poster, this may be a "silly" rule, but were the 10 commandments silly? They were in the old testament, shouldn't we still follow them?

Also, I don't see anything in Craig's post that mention Leviticus...
To Branden G...Jews and Muslims don't eat pork...Christians(and apparently Buddhists) do.

Vegetarianism is not a mandate to be a Buddhist, but most Buddhists take ahimsa (do no harm) to include not eating meat. I think the Christians follow the Bible differently than the Jewish or Muslims do.

Pork is allowed to Christians because they are not under the Law Covenant that Israel was. When Jesus was on the Earth, he fulfilled the Law
Luke 16:16 “The Law and the Prophets were until John. From then on the kingdom of God is being declared as good news, and every sort of person is pressing forward toward it.
Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.
Colossians2:13 Furthermore, though YOU were dead in YOUR trespasses and in the uncircumcised state of YOUR flesh, [God] made YOU alive together with him. He kindly forgave us all our trespasses 14 and blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us; and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake.

This not eating Pork thing doesn't actually have anything to do with religion in truth. It is a hang over from a time when nations were run by their religion and religious law was civil law. Pigs weren't raised properly in the Fertile Crescent which led to people getting sick and dying in large numbers. It was recognized by the leaders of the time that it was the contaminated pigs that was causing it so it was made against the law to protect the health of the people. Back then law was made by the religion so, people of two of the worlds religions still follow the law to this day. Buddhist don't eat Beef.

Because when Christianity was trying to take on a solid form in the years following the death of Christ, they opted to not require the observance of Jewish law from those who took on the religion.
However, not eating pork is a direct command from both Moses and Muhammad and thus is required for following them.
Some buddhists are, in fact, big on the pig.
All the best,
Lazarus

Over the years Christians have chosen which of the OT laws they would like to follow. Some will tell you that the Old laws are dead and then in their next answer quote old laws in Lev. to oppose gays. I would guess they only know what is feed to them by pastors and have learned not to question. As far as Buddhist their are no actual sins or laws, just guidelines and precepts. Many have taken on a vegetarian life so has not to harm any creature.

the torah told the Jews not to eat pork and the muslims follow the Jewish laws but God showed peter no food was a sin so the Christians do not feel they are under those laws. living in a desert it would have been dangeruse to eat pork I believe.

It started as a direct 'dig' at Jews. Pork is among foods considered not fit for consumption. Early christians, in trying to throw off Mosaic law, rejected the laws of kashrut (dietary laws).
Considering the traditional easter hams, it's kind of funny they celebrate their faith by violating the laws it's unwitting founder kept, no?

Because they believe that after Jesus died, the some of old laws (old testament) don't count anymore
The not eating pork must have been for health reasons, imo.
It is now safer to eat pork, in many countries.
They want to stick to not eating pork, that's fine with me.
I will eat any normal eating-meat, except beef.
I've had goat before, I liked it.
