Will the older cat be territorial? Will he want to fight my new cat (who is the same age and looks the same as him)? Will he run away an never come back? The only contact they have is between a glass door.

Here is the background on the outdoor cat. 5 years old, 4 years outdoors. He came on a regular basis until I think about begining of 2006. At that time he stopped coming at all until 6 months later, came everyday for 6 month and now since this January he only comes once a week or so. He scares easily now (only since this January) and if I were to open the door after he eats and lies in the ground, he will walk away. He only lets me pet him when he's eating, sometimes not at all. I think he doesn't trust or like us anymore except for food. (Might have gotten tortured?) What would happen if he sees we have another cat on his ground?

Oh, my old cat came this morning and my new cat was peering through the window so my old cat can't see him. I just got the new cat on Saturday (todays is Mon). Too soon to introduce each other?

I don't think my older cat has seen him yet and I think this was the first day my older cat came home while I had my new cat.

My older cat is outdoors only and my new cat is indoors

Usually its suggested to wait for about a week until you introduce new pets to each other and i think that may be the best way. See if your old cat sees ur new cat and if he is curious, he might hang out more to stare at the new cat. The new cat might be a little intimidated but thats normal since the old cat is the `boss` around your house. Then in about a week of much staring and curiousity, introduce your new cat, but make sure you keep a hand on the new cat since he might run away. It is very likely that they will start a fight but its pretty much necessary to figure out who is the top cat around the house. good luck!

First of all ,you need to take the old cat to the vet and have it vaccinated and neutered, and take the new cat as well. Then, after their hormone levels have settled( in about 4 weeks) you should gradually introduce them to each other, and if you can,you should keep both of them indoors,as an outdoor cat is in danger of being run over, poisoned, shot, being attacked by dogs or coyotes and catching disease, especially when they are not fixed. They will also fight and develop abscesses and can catch feline leukemia and AIDS from fighting. So,get them taken care of health - wise before you do anything else.

I must say the obsession with pets is one thing I find odd. People are overly in love with their pets. I do love animals and support their protection but it bothers me when some people are so engrossed in everything to do with their pets, and very little or nothing else matters. I also think some of the money spent on pets should be used to protect other animals that are endangered and/or given to charitable organizations.
